“Would it be liturgically inappropriate to add spinal fluoride to the wine before the consecration?”
Transbustantiation would not ocurr if a foreign substance is added to the wine. However, do not despair, since it becomes the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord it does include a generous amount of Fortitude. It is up to the bishop to use it, though.
So, all you folks who desire to bite the hand that feeds you, can you show me your papers from Rome that have deputized you as Bishops’ correctors?
Today’s lesson:
Ever notice that when layman call for things like married priests, woman priests, changing the the teaching on contraception, etc. it’s always cheered as “We Are Church”, Sensus fidei or, Heaven help us, “the Spirit of Vatican II”?
But when layfolk encourage bishops in the direction of constant and unchanging Church teaching, then the lay people are being uppity and being self-appointed bishops and what not.
Hear endeth the lesson.
Bonus: Also note that when people advocate changing the teaching on contraception, it’s always called “lifting the ban”, as if it mere merely current policy. As if Pope Paul VI woke up one morning and decided to condemn contraception on a lark.
The children are meant to be fed at the table and the dogs get the scraps that fall to the floor, right? Even if this present joy is (mis)understood as children acting like bad dogs, surely the analogy can be explained by the poor treatmeant many children (both metaphoric and literal) have had at the hands of renegade dissenting (and spineless) bishops in the past?
The Bishops who have spoken up are taking advantage of a teaching moment for us as well. This is the time to take heart. We should ALL be ready to speak the truth and correct with charitable hearts.
Hmmm. Maybe we should add that spinal fluoride in our drinking water. Or even our holy water fonts?

Can we put this fluid in the offices of every (arch)diocese in the US?

You can be certain that “spinal fluoride” is not a communist plot!

Carol, I’m glad you asked for our deputization. We received it from Cardinal Arinze while preparing for our first holy communion:

I think today’s readings are an admirable answer to your question.
