“They said they were going to be peaceful,” Police Chief Edward Moore said Monday afternoon. “I give them credit.”
A group of about 50 people picketed at Saratoga Hospital Monday morning. Some carried large, graphic photos they said depicted an aborted fetus. One marcher also carried an American flag. Later in the afternoon, activists fanned out around Saratoga Springs, carrying signs downtown and passing out literature, Moore said. This was also without incident.
Moore said one man pulled into the hospital parking lot Monday morning to argue with the pro-life group, which calls its gathering “Oh Saratoga!”
“There was a short discussion, and he went on his way,” Moore said.
Moore said some drivers responded to the pro-life message with obscene hand gestures.
“People stick up their middle finger to show us their IQ,” said Father Francis McCloskey, a Roman Catholic priest who helped organize Oh Saratoga!
