The newest trend among liberals is to aver support for our troops, but in the next breath stab President Bush in the back.
We’ve heard it over and over recently; “Oh, I support our troops, but …,” and then comes the slap in our president’s face.
So, it comes as no surprise that Barbra Streisand joined in the chorus of Bush bashers with a diatribe on her Web site. But just to show you that so many of these liberals have no ideas of their own, listen to Babs and see if her statement seems a little familiar …
She gives the obligatory troop support statement, although we suspect it’s lip service: “I pray for America’s military servicemen and women and their families. I pray that this war is over quickly, that our troops come home safely and that there are few civilian casualties.”
Streisand during the filming of the Prince of Tides in Beaufort County, SC called the Commander of the Marine Corps Air Station to complain when military jets flew over the areas where she was filming. These planes were on there way to participate in Desert Storm.
And then she writes: “I find it tragic that the Bush administration’s attempts at diplomacy failed so miserably and have led us to the point of starting a war that might have been avoided.”
The liberals have now converted the saying “Love the sinner, hate the sin” to their own version of “Love the troops, hate the President.” As the liberal lemmings lockstep themselves to Daschle disparagements they further show their ignorance. How do you support the troops and at the same time attack the Commander in Chief? If they are saying that the very mission and orders the troops are receiving are wrong, how does that support or help them? When they are in reality saying “We support you in the evil – horrendous – innocent – civilian killing – dispicable – shameful war you our carrying out.” I wonder how many of our men and women in the military right now feel warm and comforted by the support of the Hollywood left.
