A Roman Catholic priest has refused to bless a health food shop because it sells goods which are said to have aphrodisiac effects.
Father Salvatore Traina said the sale of incense and tablets at the shop – which the owners claim increases sex drive – is immoral.
Father Traina added: “It would be against my vows to set foot in such a shop and some of the items on sale encourage a sexual activity which is against the Church’s teachings.”
Alessio Sansone, owner of the shop at Agrigento on the Italian island of Sicily, said: “It’s not as if we are selling anything illegal.
“We just wanted the local priest to bless our new shop when it opened but he has refused.”
