Catholic dissident full employment program continues

by Jeffrey Miller June 9, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

This time with Alexia Kelley directory of “Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good” which received money from Moveon.org founder George Sorous. She also provided cover for Abortocrat John Kerry as she generally provides cover for all Abortocrats.

President Obama – please stop picking on Catholics by picking the less than faithful among us.

President Obama has announced that Alexia Kelley, founder of the antiabortion group Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, will serve as the director of the Health and Human Services Department’s Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, arousing the ire of some abortion rights activists.

“antiabortion group” – what a laugh. Yeah they put some slogan on their website about the sanctity of life while at the same time all of their efforts are towards electing Abortocrats. A group that called itself anti-racist that supported racist candidates would never get away with such a claim.

If Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good were really anti-abortion we would hear from all the usual suspects in the abortion protection movement about being disturbed by this appointment, Though I guess only Francis Kissling was foolish enough to accept this claim in any way.

Journey Home to the Catholic Church

by Jeffrey Miller June 8, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

Anglican priest Jeffrey Steel and his family have decided to cross the Tiber as he announced yesterday on his blog. Really quite a beautiful post and well worth reading in full. One part that really struck me.

Finally, this leads me to my vocation to the priesthood and the cura animarum. I realise that I do not come to the Church making demands. I come offering my life to Jesus and to the Church as I seek his will for my life. For the time being, I am simply giving up being the teacher and am now becoming the student of Mother Church. What she does with me is in the best interest of her and God’s kingdom. As I said, the family is preparing to move to London in the near future to begin a new life of ministry and service. There will be more details forthcoming as things become confirmed to me.

So give him an welcome and pray for him and his family as they make this transition.

Brainwashing

by Jeffrey Miller June 7, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

It is to be expected that President Obama’s nominees will be quite radical for the most part, but his Education Secretary nominee Kevin Jennings is rather alarming. A man who once failed to report a molestation a of schools age boy and who wrote the forward to the book “Queering Elementary.”

Diane at Te Deum laudamus has details and commentary.

He supports the type of indoctrination that suggests train them while they are young. That goes beyond acceptance of people who struggle with same-sex attraction to acceptance of homosexual acts and the continuing mainstreaming of something intrinsically disordered. Our society is already playing Hell in the confusion of pre-teens with so-called sexual identity by turning sex into something that means nothing more than a pleasurable handshake. This lie that totally contradicts God’s plan for human sexuality within the context of marriage is one of the most prominent lies from which so many other lies and evils fall.

The secular culture is quite narrow despite how it sees itself as the broadening open minded way. They can’t make distinctions between those who have some level of same-sex attraction and those who commit intrinsically disordered acts. For them it must all be accepted. There is a great difference between the temptation and falling to it. From Seinfeld we get the clip “Not that there is anything wrong with that” in reference to homosexuality. This joke though seems to be the philosophy of modern culture.

As the Vatican previously stated:

It is deplorable that homosexual persons have been and are the object of violent malice in speech or in action. Such treatment deserves condemnation from the Church’s pastors wherever it occurs. It reveals a kind of disregard for others which endangers the most fundamental principles of a healthy society. The intrinsic dignity of each person must always be respected in word, in action and in law.

But the proper reaction to crimes committed against homosexual persons should not be to claim that the homosexual condition is not disordered. When such a claim is made and when homosexual activity is consequently condoned, or when civil legislation is introduced to protect behavior to which no one has any conceivable right, neither the Church nor society at large should be surprised when other distorted notions and practices gain ground, and irrational and violent reactions increase.

Those such as Mr. Jennings in their promotion of GLBT causes in the school system think they are doing good. The President recently announced this month as GLBT Pride month (I’ll stick with celebrating the Sacred Heart of Jesus this month). This type of opinion is prevalent in our school systems and while they are trying to eliminate unjust discrimination they are really promoting unjust discrimination against anybody who would dare disagree with them. Complain and you are branded a Neanderthal wanting to put those with same-sex attraction back into the closet. Look what homosexual activists in their fascist tactics did to those who supported Prop 9 in California by setting up black lists and getting people fired.

Those who suffer with same-sex attraction have a heavy cross in resisting these temptations and remaining chaste. No one is served well by having their temptations branded as not being disordered. When it comes to fornication and adultery society is also going full force in trying to normalize grave sins.

I hope their is a massive reaction to Mr. Jennings’ nomination and that he is defeated. The Department of Education is already a worthless department that educates nobody and Mr. Jennings could only add to further politically correct brainwashing of our school children and which does an injustice to our brothers an sisters who have the cross of same-sex attraction.

Everything is with the greater glory of God

by Jeffrey Miller June 6, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

MIAMI – A nun from a downtown church shelter was arrested for allegedly confronting a police officer who was dealing with a homeless man armed with a knife and an ice pick, according to WPLG-Ch. 10.

Sister Margaret Anthony is facing misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice after the Monday incident outside the Missionaries of Charity shelter near NW 17th Street and Seventh Court, the station reported.

Sister Margaret was not jailed, and a court date has not been set, Moss told WFOR-Ch. 4.

As police were trying to diffuse a situation with the homeless man, Sister Margaret got in the way and confronted the officer, a Miami Police spokesman told WPLG.

“The nun refused to stay back. She came through the gate. At one point, she gets right in front of, or right in the middle of, the police officer and this knife-, ice pick-wielding man.” Cmdr. Delrish Moss said.

Moss said police think Sister Margaret was only trying to protect the homeless man, but she “stepped over the boundary” and interfered with the police officer.
Another nun from the shelter refused to comment, telling WPLG: “Everything is with the greater glory of God. There’s nothing else we want to say.”

Hopefully this will all get straightened out.

Catholics United in Heresy

by Jeffrey Miller June 6, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

Via the excellent Catholic Key blog a statement by Jude Hunz the Director of the Human Rights Office for the Diocese of Kansas City – St. Joseph.

Representing the Church

Recently there have been a number of radio advertisements in the Kansas City area paid for by a group called Catholics United. These advertisements thank Senator Claire McCaskill for supporting the economic recovery package in the budget bill and stating that this piece of legislation represents the best in Catholic social teaching. While a number of things can be said in response, three essential points need to be stated.

First, no private organization – even if it has the word ‘Catholic’ in its name – represents the Catholic Church. The bishop of the diocese is the only official teacher, guardian, and interpreter of the Catholic tradition (cf. Catechism of the Catholic Church # 888, 894, 895, 1560,, Code of Canon Law 375.1, 392.1, 393, 394.1, 394.2) While the bishop may appoint others, i.e. priests, deacons, lay people, to work and act on behalf of the Church, the task of authentically transmitting the deposit of Faith belongs to the bishops of the Church. Thus, while there are many well intentioned groups with the term ‘Catholic’ in their name, none of them represents the Catholic Church in any official capacity.

Second, this specific organization – Catholics United – is a clearly partisan organization that heavily supports the Democratic Party. A glance on their website shows endorsements for President Obama, his selection of Kathleen Sebelius as director of Health and Human Services, and support for the University of Notre Dame in its decision to honor the president with an honorary doctorate at its commencement ceremony. While every Catholic has the right to join whatever political party they choose (cf. Compendium of Social Doctrine #573), a person does not have the right to equate their own personal opinion as the official position of the Catholic Church (cf. Compendium of Social Doctrine #574 ). The Church cannot endorse particular candidates for public office, nor can she align itself with one particular political party over another. The Gospel transcends the political order while at the same time intersecting with it along the way.

Finally, while there are some aspects of the economic recovery package in the budget that are in accord with Catholic social teaching, notably the preferential option for the poor and the concern for the common good, there are also troubling aspects of the stimulus package that do not reflect Catholic social teaching. While the Church acknowledges the rightful role of the state in the life of society and the economy, there is also a concern for the principle of subsidiarity that becomes threatened with excessive government intervention. What is more, there are family planning provisions within the stimulus package that promote abortion and contraception, which clearly violate the inviolable life and dignity of the human person, which is the foundation of all Catholic social teaching.

The Church does not seek to take a position on every piece of legislation that passes through our various organs of government. To do so would blur the line that distinguishes the work of the Church and the work of the state. The Church does hold up the perennial values and principles of the Gospel and her magisterium that impact the moral life of society in political legislation. She also has the obligation to instruct the faithful on what constitutes authentic Catholic teaching and practice. These rights belong to her alone, not to private organizations who falsely claim to represent the Church.

In honor of 65th anniversary of D-Day

by Jeffrey Miller June 6, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

“Aragorn: Hold your ground, hold your ground. Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day. This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!”

A handbook will not do it

by Jeffrey Miller June 3, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

Catholic Minority Report pretty much sums up my opinion on how effective a handbook by the Vatican will be to get Catholics to return to confession.

I think that as long as Confession is relegated to a half hour block on Saturday nights as is done in most parishes there will be a lack of people going to confession. Making an appointment when you want to be anonymous, as is your right, does not work.

My main parish has confession before every Mass and there are lines. Another parish I go to just started that practice. When Catholics see other Catholics lining up for confession it certainly brings it up to them and shows that “No it did not go out with Vatican II.”

The lack of preaching on sin certainly has lead to this problem. “God loves you where your at” and all that means you don’t have to do anything like actually repenting. We don’t have to go all “Hellfire and Brimstone”, but certainly the reality of Hell needs to be preached. Our Culture is preaching “I’m OK, You’re OK” 24/7 and it needs to be counteracted when the reality is “I’m a Sinner, You’re a Sinner and we both need to continuously repent.”

Efforts like Archbiship Wuerl’s effort to emphasize confession starting from the bishop down is important.

Regular confession by the Catholic faithful will help to bring about an actual springtime of the Church. All renewal starts with self-renewal and that self-renewal is via the grace of God and the great sacrament of confession is an important component of this.

Archbishop George Lucas

by Jeffrey Miller June 3, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

Since Bishop George Lucas has been appointed to the Diocese of Omaha you know I couldn’t resist some Star Wars’ tie ins. I started out making some on Twitter and others added their own.

Re: new bishop in Omaha. Do I go for the easy Star Wars joke? Naw. I’m sure @CurtJester beat me to it. 😉 @bettnett

Well actually Dom’s tweet was how I found out. But he does know me well as far as intent.

I hope he won’t be writing any dialogue for the liturgy.

As much as I love Yoda please don’t assign him to the Vox Clara committee for the English translations of liturgical texts. “Ended, the mass is”

It would be awesome if he had a pastoral staff/light sabre.

If Ja Ja Binks gets appointed as Auxiliary Bishop the Papal Nuncio will be going to detox.

His catch phrase is “Use the GIRM!”

His favorite Gospel is the Gospel of Luke

His first pastoral letter will be on bioethics & titled “Attack of the Clones”. @jasongennaro

I hope Bp. George Lucas attacks the (Culture of) Death Star as successfully as Skywalker did in Ep 4. @DenverGregg

“Bishop George Lucas tells everyone that he is their Father. @geek

He will rename them the Jedi Knights of Columbus. @vjmorton

the nun’s habits in the diocese will now have large black earpieces on either side @vjmorton

The THX sound at the beginning of Mass is a bit much. Still better than announcements. @joemarier

‘May the Force be with you’ … ‘And also with you’ @jordanhenderson

I wonder how many times he’s said tongue in cheek, “I find your lack of faith disturbing. @catholiclawyer

How about “Peter cut off the ear of the Roman first! @meepbobeep

So what can you come up with?

Selective outrage

by Jeffrey Miller June 1, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

Little Rock – Authorities have identified the soldier killed in Monday’s double-shooting outside a U.S Army recruitment office in west Little Rock.

According to Pulaski County Coroner Garland Camper, 23-year-old William Long of Conway died shortly after being transported to a Little Rock hospital.

Police say the incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. at a U.S. Army Navy Career Center inside the Ashley Square Shopping Center at 9112 North Rodney Parham Road. According to Lt. Terry Hastings with the Little Rock Police Department, two enlisted soldiers standing outside the office were hit when a suspect drove up in a black SUV and began shooting.

At a briefing Monday afternoon, Little Rock police chief Stuart Thomas identified the suspect as Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, of Little Rock. Thomas says Muhammad also goes by the name Carlos Bledsoe.

Hastings identified the second wounded soldier as Quinton Ezeagwula, age unknown. He remains at a local hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

So far the President has said “” and the Attorney General has sent 0 Marshals to protect recruiting stations and issued a statement that said “”. The Huffington Post managed to have an article condemning right-wing political violence, but somehow this story escaped their attention. Amazing they were able to have the prudence to realize that in this case the man was probably acting alone and this was a local matter. Somehow the same circumstance in regards to the murder of the Dr. Tiller garnered another response.

As a former Navy recruiter this story hits home a bit. Though I only got my tires slashed and treated like crap by some in Washington state who hated the military.

OVERREACTION!

by Jeffrey Miller May 31, 2009
written by Jeffrey Miller

“The murder of Doctor George Tiller is an abhorrent act of violence, and his family is in our thoughts and prayers at this tragic moment. Federal law enforcement is coordinating with local law enforcement officials in Kansas on the investigation of this crime, and I have directed the United States Marshals Service to offer protection to other appropriate people and facilities around the nation. The Department of Justice will work to bring the perpetrator of this crime to justice. As a precautionary measure, we will also take appropriate steps to help prevent any related acts of violence from occurring.

Yet it is a abhorrent act of violence,. Now imagine if George Bush in the wake of the Seattle Synagogue shootings has ordered U.S. Marshals to cover all Synagogues. The media would certainly have seen this as a wild overreaction. In that case a single Muslim had done the atrocity and people credited as a lone incident and not that we would see Muslims across the county suddenly attacking Synagogues. But this is exactly what the Obama administration has done. “Related acts of violence” obviously means we can expect those murderous crazy pro-lifers to be taking up target practice against abortion doctors.

I tweeted earlier that it would take no time at all before they initiated plans against pro-lifers and surely this is just the start. For them this killing which has been condemned by every pro-life groups gives them carte blanche for even more onerous protections surround aborturaries. Already our rights our violated by bubble zones which would occur around any other source for demonstrations. They have their excuse now am I am afraid things our going to get much worse in regards to our freedom to protest the murder of innocents. I hope I am wrong and overreacting myself. But this act by the Attorney General scares me in how imprudent it is. The idea that this goes beyond one kook is ridiculous. Though for them abortion is the most sacred thing there is and must be protected at the cost of “freedoms.”

In the aftermath of 911 people went out of their way to not blame every Muslim. But you can bet pro-lifers will not be treated as such by the media. They won’t mind profiling the Hell out of pro-lifers. We are all guilty by association in their eyes. Remember before they wanted to come after us with laws used to fight organized crime and went after pro-life hero Joe Scheidler for years under the Clinton administration. Be prepared for the coming persecution. I pray I am totally wrong.
