I’m waiting for Bill Shatner to shout, “Phasers to full power! Aim for the clones! Shoot to kill!”
She wants to clone herself? There’s all sorts of joke possibilities here. Is she going to carry her cloned fetus to term? Sounds like the ultimate in egotism, give birth to yourself.
The whole thing sounds just too silly to take seriously; I say go ahead and let her try. If she fails would it be murder or suicide or….?

It’s so in the same way that and surrogacy agreements are part of the reproductive rights of every human being. Likewise, abortion is also a part of the reproductive rights of every human being.
The Supreme Court has spoken, the case is closed.
Truthfully, if IVF is deemed “moral”, I don’t see any reason to reject cloning. Neither is “natural”, and a clone is seemingly no different than a twin.
What’s my take? Humans should be begotten, not made. Reproduction should be a product of life-giving self-giving love, not a product of the will. A child who is made is loved conditionally, while a child who is begotten is loved unconditionally.
What’s America’s take? I want it now. Gimme.
Man, it sure is a bummer that our reproductive rights have been curtailed for all human history until recently by the cruel oppression of cloning not yet having been invented.
Suppose I clone myself (is that a sin?).
And then I find myself to be a pain in the butt to myself, even if I try to love my neighbor (myself as myself) (is it the virtue of charity to love my neighbor as myself if my neighbr is myself)?.
And then I kill myself (not ME!, the other me); is it a sin if I killed myself but I’m still here?
That last one makes my head hurt.
