One of the funniest things about receiving the Neocath tag is that the wording just makes no sense in reality. I believe that those he identified like Jimmy Akin, Peter Kreeft, Amy Welborn, the Blossers, and myself would feel right at home if we could converse with orthodox Catholic throughout the ages. If we could time travel back who would they see us as the "new Catholics" or resurrection and Hell deniers like Fr. O’Leary. In fact I think even heretics of old would not put up with the nonsense of many progressive Catholics today.

I was disappointed that Fr. O’Leary did not respond to any of the questions and challenges posed to him by the commenters.
Why would he? For all his talk about dialogue, he isn’t willing to talk to the people with whom he is so disappointed. Maybe he’s afraid of seeing the truth.
Re the heretics of old not putting up with modern nonsense, I am reminded of a story. During the days when Mesopotamia (now, of course, Iraq) was part of the Ottoman Empire, British Protestants had some missions to the traditional Christian communities there. One of the largest Christian churches was that of the Assyrians who are Nestorian in theology. You may recollect that Nestorius said that Christ the Eternal Word was one Person and Jesus the Man another person. Therefore, it was impious and incorrect to call Mary “Mother of God.” Of course, he was condemned by the Council of Ephesus and is one of the great Heresiarchs.
Well, one Protestant missionary to these Nestorians was having a heart-to-heart with a Nestorian priest. The priest told him, “You Protestants have a lot of virtues, but there is one thing about your Christianity we Nestorians can never accept.”
“And what is that?” said the Protestant missionary.
“You don’t give enough honor and attention to the Blessed Virgin,” replied the Nestorian priest.
That is great (the part of what the Nestorian priest said to the protestant missionary.)!!
I think you need to understand the subtext of the slur “neocatholic.” It is meant to stir a mental association with “neoconservative,” which in turn is code for Jewish.
Skizzes who call Catholics “neocatholics” are sounding an antisemitic note, though whether conscioulsy or unconsciously, I couldn’t say. Some of them explicitly charge that the Novus Ordo is part of a “Talmudic” plot.
I thought “neocath” was supposed to evoke an association with “Neanderthal,” in which case…
…ugh, me ‘um love ‘um Pope Bendict and the Church.

I was amazed that the good Father didn’t bother to answer any of the comments on his blog, but did go over to Prof. Blosser’s blog where he posted as “Spirit of Vatican II”. Perhaps he does not wish to stoop to associate with those who would visit his site – your guess is as good as mine.
