KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A federal judge will allow Washburn University to continue to display a sculpture of a Catholic clergyman while a lawsuit seeking its removal moves forward.
U.S. District Judge G. Thomas VanBebber today denied a request for a temporary restraining order prohibiting the statue’s display.
A student and a professor asked that the “Holier Than Thou” statue be removed in a lawsuit filed Tuesday. The non-profit Thomas More Law Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., is representing Andrew Strobl, a student and president of the Catholic Campus Center, and Thomas O’Connor, a biology professor.
Quick somebody inscribe the Ten Commandments onto it. It will then be gone in a court-ordered flash.
