Norwegians woke up Tuesday morning to news that a respected Oslo pre-school teacher, backed by child psychologists, thinks children should be allowed to openly express their own sexuality, not least through sex play and games in the local day care centers known as barnehager, or kindergartens.
Pia Friis, leader of the popular Bjerkealleen Barnehage in Oslo and a well-known pre-school educator, told newspaper Dagbladet on Tuesday that children should be allowed to express their own sexuality at day care centers. She doesn’t want to stifle what comes naturally.
Children, she said, should be able "to look at each other and examine each other’s bodies. They can play doctor, play mother and father, dance naked and masturbate.
"But their sexuality must also be socialized, so they are not, for example, allowed to masturbate while sitting and eating. Nor can they be allowed to pressure other children into doing things they don’t want to."
I guess they haven’t had enough sexual harrassment cases in the pre-schools, so they need to gin up some more.
I sense a future Nobel winner…
What a bigot – how dare she stigmatize children who want to masterbate while eating just like they do at the Folsom Street Fair….
Dang. Amazing that people would take anything she said seriously. Here in West Virginny, we just shoot people like that.
Of course, well-adjusted and un-molested toddlers won’t know that the “game” is something they don’t want to do until after the over-sexed children have done something to her/him. If I were a gambler, I’d bet good money that the “experts” have some personal (and perverted) stake in letting children act out sexually.
Jeff, I’m afraid your link’s broken. Here’s the original article from Aftenposten.
MissJean, apparently the “experts” thought of the harrassment angle. The idea, according to one, is that “Children can’t object to something they don’t know about, and children can more easily and readily report assaults if they already are aware of their own sexuality.” Reassured? Neither am I.
On the plus side, this is controversial even in Norway. In fact, according to the article, not just the conservatives are objecting. (You mean they still have conservatives in Norway? I must be more provincial than I thought :-).) But you know this is coming from the far-left fringe when even Scandinavian liberals think it’s going too far.
Brave New World becomes one step closer to reality…
Here’s a link from Aftenposten:
Sick. Just sick, sick, sick.
And then they put on her hanskuflingers (handcuffs) and sent her to the barzenwalls (jail).
In any sane society Pia Friis…a well-known pre-school educator would at least be permanently removed from any contact with children. If this is the wave of the future, then we have actually lost WWII.
Is homeschooling even legal there? I know several European countries (esp Germany) severely restrict it.
Yes, homeschooling is legal here in Norway.
Good thing they frown upon masturbating while eating, lest any outside observer mistake the kindergarten for the chimpanzee holding area.
I wonder what they would say if a child claimed he felt a natural urge to smoke a cigarette?
Methinks she’s running a little child porn business on the side and would like to have official authorization to let them do what comes ‘naturally’, and what could be more ‘natural’ than to photograph children? Aren’t they cute? How much for that picture?
How many parents removed their children from her supervision after this announcement?
Doesn’t this kooky lady and her kook ideas remind anyone of that one funny scene in “Auntie Mame,” where Patrick is returned home from his Greenwich Village school wearing only his overcoat? He explains to Auntie Mame and a horrified Mr. Babcock what the children were all doing at the school- yogurt time, daddy fish and mommy fish, etc.
A laughable concept then and now.
Thats it. I officially turn in my Scandinavian heritage.
While we were living in Trondheim, I was told I could homeschool my American kids in Norway and that the administrator would be arriving every friday to ensure the state that we were doing an acceptable job!!!
