I had jury duty today but wasn’t picked
\nfor a trial. At least with all the waiting around I was able to finish Mark
\nShea’s book “Making Senses out of scripture”. This is a book I wish I had been
\nable to read when I first starting to read the Bible. I had read before about
\nthe four senses of scripture, but it didn’t all click together until I read
\nMark’s explanation. The church I attend daily Mass at was only six blocks from
\nthe court house and so was able to attend Mass during lunch.<\/p>\n
I keep
\nnoticing the encroachment of “Inclusive Language” into our daily lives. During
\nthe brief on the jury process they talked about forepersons instead of foremen.
\nThis is just a totally ridiculous exercise in Political Correctness. I remember
\na speech on the subject by Fr. Fessio S.J. in which he said that “If someone
\nyells that there is a man-eating shark in the water, that the women know to get
\nout, and if the room says “Men” on it women know not to go in it”. People
\nactually understand the distinctions and we are just dumbing down the language.
