Orrin Hatch, with over a quarter-century<br \/>\nexperience on the Senate Judiciary Committee, ripped into the Democrats for filibustering<br \/>\nto block a vote on President Bush&#8217;s judicial nominee to the 2nd Circuit Court<br \/>\nof Appeals in D.C., Miguel Estrada. <\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000FF\">First, Hatch fired this salvo at Sen. Patrick Leahy of<br \/>\nVermont, who accused President Bush of acting like a child on a playground:<br \/>\n&quot;I have been listening to this day after day after day. It is clear this<br \/>\nis a game. It is a bad game. If they don&#8217;t like the answers Mr. Estrada has<br \/>\ngiven, vote against him. That is the remedy here. Don&#8217;t filibuster. Vote against<br \/>\nhim. Talk against him, like we have had plenty of. Then you have an absolute<br \/>\nright to vote against him if you want to.&quot;<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000FF\">He also said that blocking Estrada&#8217;s nomination smacked<br \/>\nof racism. Hatch snapped, &quot;It is hypocritical. It is wrong. It is unfair.<br \/>\nIt is establishing a precedent that could hurt this country immeasurably. &#8230;<br \/>\nTo do it against the first Hispanic nominated to the Circuit Court of Appeals<br \/>\nfor the District of Columbia is particularly reprehensible, especially since<br \/>\nhe has every qualification a person needs to fulfill this responsibility. How<br \/>\nfar do we go with these ridiculous arguments, these unfair arguments, these<br \/>\ndiscriminatory and prejudicial arguments, against a person who has every qualification<br \/>\nto be on this court?&quot;<\/font> [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/showinsidecover.shtml?a=2003\/2\/13\/121714\">Full<br \/>\nStory<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>When I heard part of this speech I thought great someone is finally giving<br \/>\nthe Dumb-eractic Party a taste of their own medicine in the race card wars.<br \/>\nUpon further reflection trying to say that they will filibuster him because<br \/>\nhe is Hispanic is just not true. They just suspect that Estrada will follow<br \/>\nthe Constitution and not legislate from the bench; so it has nothing to do with<br \/>\nrace but ideology. How can we complain about some people calling conservatives<br \/>\nracist when we disagree with someone&#8217;s ideology and then turn around and do<br \/>\nthe same?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last night, Sen.
