Listening to wartime press conferences is a good penitential
\npractice during Lent. Restraining myself from screaming out at the radio or
\nTV when the
\nmost inane questions are asked takes a lot of self discipline. Especially silly
\nis different reporters asking the same question with only slightly different
\nnuances. <\/p>\n
Reporter: Did the President watch the bombing campaign on Iraq
\ntoday?<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: He did not have on the TV when I was in his office.<\/p>\n
Reporter: Do you mean that he isn’t watching this on his TV.<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: He might have turned on the TV after I left, I
\ndon’t know.<\/p>\n
Reporter: Surely he is watching the destruction of Baghdad that
\nhe has ordered.<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: The President does not have to watch TV to understand
\nthe weight of his decisions.<\/p>\n
Reporter: Did you see if he had a remote control in the room.<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: I am sure that he does.<\/p>\n
Reporter: What brand of TV does he have and what size of it.<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: I do not know.<\/p>\n
Reporter: Does he have cable or a dish.<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: He has both.<\/p>\n
Reporter: When you left the President did he mention possibly
\nturning on the TV later.<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: Not that I remember.<\/p>\n
Reporter: What are you hiding?. Did the President announce
\nhis intentions or not.<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: I am totally unaware of his TV watching intentions
\nfor today.<\/p>\n
Reporter: Doesn’t the President understand that it is unamerican
\nnot to get all their information from the TV news.<\/p>\n
Ari Fleischer: The President does have other sources of information
\nsuch as the Commander of the Joint Chiefs, NSA, CIA, FBI, etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
