(CNSNews.com) – Political watchdogs say Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry’s campaign website contest – where donors contributing a minimum of $25 are entered for a chance to win a day campaigning with the candidate – is really an effort at playing catch-up with web-savvy former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, another 2004 candidate.<\/p>\n
“Dean has done a better job than any other major candidate since the dawn of the Internet,” Larry Sabato, University of Virginia political science professor, told CNSNews.com.<\/p>\n
Sabato said other two recent candidates who used the Internet to their advantage were former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura and Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain. He explained that Kerry was a “Johnny come-lately” to website politicking, as were all other Democratic candidates except for Dean.
