One of the best Catholic apologetics magazines unfortunately is only available dead tree with no web presence at all. This Rock magazine<\/a> published by Catholic Answers is constantly outstanding in it’s articles. With St. Blog’s own Mark Shea<\/a> and new blogger Dave Armstrong<\/a> the magazine is chock full of good writers. The magazine is worth the price of subscription just for the articles by Jimmy Akin. Even if you have no desire to be a budding apologist, the information on the faith is still useful. I just wish that they would publish their old articles on the web as does Crisis<\/a>, Envoy<\/a>, and First Things<\/a>. The unwritten rule in blogging is that you don’t reference information not available on the web, so This Rock ends up not being mentioned in St. Blogs. One of the best features is a series called Classic Apologetics where articles from past apologists are reprinted. This month they had a satire on false ecumenism\/indifferentism written by Fr. Ronald Knox<\/a> in 1914 while he was still in the Anglican Church. This article does not seem to be on the web, which is too bad since it is one of the funniest things I have ever read. But here is an excerpt from it.<\/p>\n

As to our old quarrel about the clause Filoque, it will clearly have disappeared at the time of which we speak: for as Tradition avers that the Apostles when they first formed a Creed, did not all profess it together, but each supplied his contribution, Peter leading the way with I believe in God<\/i>, so in this new Church nobody will be expected to recite the whole Creed, but only such clauses as he finds relish in; it being anticipated that, with good fortune, a large congregation will usually manage in this way to recite the whole Formula between them.<\/p>\n
