{"id":5500,"date":"2006-02-06T08:59:41","date_gmt":"2006-02-06T13:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/2006\/02\/06\/roadmap\/"},"modified":"2006-02-06T08:59:41","modified_gmt":"2006-02-06T13:59:41","slug":"roadmap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2006\/02\/roadmap\/","title":{"rendered":"Roadmap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"blog\">Yesterday at Mass after my pastor gave a homily on the readings he then went on to read from parts of the Pope&#8217;s encyclical <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vatican.va\/holy_father\/benedict_xvi\/encyclicals\/documents\/hf_ben-xvi_enc_20051225_deus-caritas-est_en.html\">Deus Caritas Est<\/a> and also preached on the subject. He mentioned the fact that a Pope&#8217;s first encyclical is often seen and used as a roadmap for a pontificate. Now I have heard this before and I think it is true as far as it goes, but these first encyclicals also go much further than this. Deus Caritas Est is not just a roadmap for Pope Benedict&#8217;s XVI&#8217;s pontificate, but it is in fact a roadmap for all of us.
