{"id":3173,"date":"2008-03-09T22:32:16","date_gmt":"2008-03-10T03:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/2008\/03\/09\/newsfire\/"},"modified":"2008-03-09T22:32:16","modified_gmt":"2008-03-10T03:32:16","slug":"newsfire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2008\/03\/newsfire\/","title":{"rendered":"NewsFire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the years I have used several RSS feed aggregators to<br \/>\nmanage th large number of feeds I watch. &nbsp;A couple of years<br \/>\nago I switched to online aggregators &#8211; first Bloglines and then Google<br \/>\nReader. &nbsp;Every once in a while I will check out a software<br \/>\naggregator when a new one comes out, but never found a free one that I<br \/>\nliked. &nbsp;Recently the Mac only <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.newsfirerss.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">NewsFire<\/a><br \/>\nbecame free and so I decided to check it out. &nbsp;It has a<br \/>\nsimple, but effective interface that really makes it very easy to go<br \/>\nthrough feeds. &nbsp;The feature that really sold me is the ability<br \/>\nto easily go through new feeds. &nbsp;The space bar is used to<br \/>\nadvance through the feeds and all aggregators have a shortcut key to do<br \/>\nthe same. &nbsp;What makes NewsFire better is that if the page you<br \/>\nare reading scrolls down you also use the space bar to advance through<br \/>\nthe document. &nbsp;So you can do all of you reading pretty much<br \/>\nonly using the space bar. &nbsp;On a partial feed where only a<br \/>\nsnippet of the feed is used you can just use the Enter key to open the<br \/>\ncurrent feed into the browser. &nbsp;I keep NewsFire in a window on<br \/>\none monitor and my web browser in another browser and this make a very<br \/>\neffective setup. &nbsp;I was surprised at how fast I could go<br \/>\nthrough reading new items from the 600 plus blogs and other news<br \/>\nsources I subscribe to.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly everybody has particular tastes when it comes to aggregators, but for me NewsFire does what I want it to do quite elegantly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the years I have used several RSS feed aggregators to manage th large number of feeds I watch. &nbsp;A couple of years ago I switched to online aggregators &#8211;&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3173","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-other"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3173","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3173"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3173\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3173"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3173"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3173"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
