{"id":3148,"date":"2008-02-29T12:25:50","date_gmt":"2008-02-29T17:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/2008\/02\/29\/creator-and-of-the-liberator-and-of-the-sustainer\/"},"modified":"2008-02-29T12:25:50","modified_gmt":"2008-02-29T17:25:50","slug":"creator-and-of-the-liberator-and-of-the-sustainer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2008\/02\/creator-and-of-the-liberator-and-of-the-sustainer\/","title":{"rendered":"Creator, and of the Liberator, and of the Sustainer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article\">Today the Congregation for the Doctrine<br \/>\nof the Faith answered two recent disputed questions regarding allowable<br \/>\nbaptismal formulas and what to do with persons &#8220;baptized&#8221; using them:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Made public today were the responses of<br \/>\nthe Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith to two questions<br \/>\nconcerning the validity of Baptism conferred with certain non-standard<br \/>\nformulae.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The first question is: &#8220;Is a Baptism<br \/>\nvalid if conferred with the words &#8216;I baptise you in the name of the<br \/>\nCreator, and of the Redeemer, and of the Sanctifier&#8217;, or &#8216;I baptise you<br \/>\nin the name of the Creator, and of the Liberator, and of the<br \/>\nSustainer'&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The second question is: &#8220;Must people<br \/>\nbaptised with those formulae be baptised &#8216;in forma absoluta&#8217;?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"blog\">American Papist has the story and I doubt<br \/>\nmy readers will be surprised at the <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.americanpapist.com\/2008\/02\/cdf-officially-ends-dispute-on-baptisms.html\"\ntarget=\"_blank\">answers by the CDF<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"blog\">It does make me reflect on the fact that<br \/>\nprogressives keep finding new ways for people to not actually receive<br \/>\nthe sacraments. &nbsp;For example women priests, &nbsp;Communal<br \/>\nconfession without individual confession, &nbsp;and invalid<br \/>\nbaptismal formulas.
