{"id":3001,"date":"2007-12-13T17:49:12","date_gmt":"2007-12-13T22:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/2007\/12\/13\/not-quite\/"},"modified":"2007-12-13T17:49:12","modified_gmt":"2007-12-13T22:49:12","slug":"not-quite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2007\/12\/not-quite\/","title":{"rendered":"Not quite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"blog\">With the recent comment by Mike Huckabee on asking whether Mormon&#8217;s believe that Satan is Jesus&#8217; brother, Andrew Sullivan tries to <a href=\"http:\/\/andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com\/the_daily_dish\/2007\/12\/jesus-lucifers.html\" target=\"_blank\">explain how odd Catholic teachings are anyway<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article\">As a Catholic, I am obliged to believe that the mother of Jesus was whooshed physically into the sky rather than dying.<\/p>\n<p class=\"blog\">Once again Mr. Sullivan shows his ignorance about the faith. The dogma of the Assumption is relates to the bodily Assumption into heaven of Mary. There has been no statement by the Magisterium as to whether Mary was alive when she was assumed or whether she died first. Eastern Catholic\/Orthodox theology generally sides on her having died first and celebrate the Dormition (falling asleep) of Mary.
