Actor Tom Hanks is in Rome for the filming of
\nAngels and Demons, a film adaptation of the book by Dan
\nBrown.<\/p>\n
Director Ron Howard is working on the film version of
\nBrown’s novel, following up on his previous cinematic rendition of
\nanother novel by the same author, The Da Vinci Code. Scenes are
\nalready being staged around the Pantheon in Rome.<\/p>\n
The
\nproduction of Angels and Demons will cost more than $100 million. The
\nfilm is due to make its appearance in theaters next summer.<\/p>\n
Well, if this movie was going to be made anyway I
\ndon’t think that this is necessarily bad news. The Da Vinci Code was
\npretty much a flop in the United State and got only a 25% rating from
\nRotten Tomatoes. Even fans of the book found the movie boring. Ron
\nHoward also directed How the Grinch Stole Christmas which was a
\nterrible piece of film making. Ron Howard certainly seems to fail at
\nadaptations, though his films with Russell Crowe are quite good along
\nwith his comedies.<\/p>\n
So maybe we can pray that he will be just as good of
\ndirector as he was for the previous Dan Brown movie and How the
\nGrinch Stole Christmas, though I guess that would be a pretty mean
\nprayer. Then again the plot for Angels and Demons is not as bad
\ntowards the Church as The Da Vinci Code anyway. It is rather silly
\ntaking place in Vatican City with illuminati, antimatter, a Pope
\nwith a son from artificial insemination, and a murderous Camerlengo,
\nand theological nonsense about being able to force a link between God
\nand Man via science.<\/p>\n
I am still convinced as I wrote before that Ron
\nHoward’s animus towards the Church is that he mistakenly thinks that
\nOpus Dei is Latin for Opie Die.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
