{"id":17141,"date":"2021-09-11T11:00:08","date_gmt":"2021-09-11T15:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/?p=17141"},"modified":"2021-09-16T14:15:44","modified_gmt":"2021-09-16T18:15:44","slug":"requiescite-in-pace-roger-shockling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2021\/09\/requiescite-in-pace-roger-shockling\/","title":{"rendered":"Requiescite in pace, Roger Schockling"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man I went through CHRP with passed away this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This photo of Roger Schockling was taken this year with him <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Letters-Karen-Roger-Schockling-ebook\/dp\/B098RX7XY9\/\">holding a hardcover copy of the book he wrote on his wife Karen<\/a>, who passed away in 2011. He was an electrical engineer, manager, and active farmer but would also write for our Parish magazine. He had been in my parish for a number of years and was active as a lector and member of the choir until recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I knew him as an unassuming man and one who was a faithful Catholic throughout his life. A man who never missed a Sunday Mass, even when he was stationed in Japan as a young man. I had not known that he had cancer for the last couple of years. But, he was certainly not a man to complain. I am grateful to have known him through our time in CHRP, our get-togethers afterward, and as part of Bible study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Requiescite in pace<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Update: Just having come back from his funeral I am even more amazed about this man from the stories I heard.
