{"id":15141,"date":"2015-05-13T18:11:16","date_gmt":"2015-05-13T22:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/?p=15141"},"modified":"2015-05-13T18:11:16","modified_gmt":"2015-05-13T22:11:16","slug":"be-a-cheerful-app-giver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2015\/05\/be-a-cheerful-app-giver\/","title":{"rendered":"Be a cheerful app giver"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Starting this Friday, Catholics in San Francisco will be able to donate to their local church by using an iPhone app, bringing modern technology to the millennia-old practice of tithing.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called \u201cdigital collection plate\u201d stems from a partnership between the Archdiocese of San Francisco and Evergive, as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/tech\/internet\/catholic-church-trades-collection-plate-app-n357216\">detailed by<\/a> <em>NBC<\/em> on Wednesday. Beginning with this weekend\u2019s masses, parishioners will be able to donate through the <a href=\"http:\/\/appleinsider.com\/l\/?link=https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/evergive\/id520629427?mt=8\">free Evergive app<\/a>, which is available for Apple\u2019s iPhone, as well as on Android.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership with the Archdiocese of San Francisco and its 433,000 members marks the largest agreement yet for Evergive, which aims to assist \u201cmission-driven organizations\u201d in collecting donations. Much like with a standard credit card transaction, Evergive keeps a small percentage of each donation it processes.<\/p>\n<p>Father Anthony Giampietro, interim director of development for the Archdiocese of San Francisco, said the arrangement is justified as a benefit of convenience on both sides.
