{"id":12863,"date":"2012-08-06T17:11:28","date_gmt":"2012-08-06T21:11:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/?p=12863"},"modified":"2012-08-06T17:11:28","modified_gmt":"2012-08-06T21:11:28","slug":"when-you-love-somebody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2012\/08\/when-you-love-somebody\/","title":{"rendered":"When you love somebody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Cardinal Timothy Dolan&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.archny.org\/index.php\/love-and-gratitude-for-the-sisters\/\" target=\"_blank\">latest blog post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to what you may have heard, Rome loves the Sisters!\u00a0 When you love someone, you show concern.\u00a0 And, recently, the Vatican expressed some concerns about the<em>Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR)<\/em>, a group that represents a lot of Sisters.<\/p>\n<p>That expression of concern contained high praise for the\u00a0<em>Leadership Conference of Women Religious<\/em>, and even higher esteem for all the nuns in America.\u00a0 The concord between the Holy See (which asked for and initiated the\u00a0<em>Leadership Conference of Women Religious\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0half-a-century ago) is strong enough for both sides to ask tough questions.<\/p>\n<p>But the concern is real:\u00a0 the Holy See loves the Sisters so much they want them as strong, faithful, and influential as possible, and legitimately worries about features threatening their very identity as \u201cdaughters of the Church,\u201d to borrow Elizabeth Ann Seton\u2019s favorite description of her sisters.<\/p>\n<p>Some say that Rome is too soft, and should have suppressed the\u00a0<em>Leadership Conference of Women Religious\u00a0<\/em>, because it is heretical; one letter even called them \u201cUnitarians\u201d!<\/p>\n<p>The other extreme claims that the stuffy, oppressive, sexist Vatican is scared of these independent, free-thinking women, and should leave them alone.<\/p>\n<p>But such caricatures hardly help.\u00a0 All that helps is humility in both partners, and a profession of faith that, in the end, it\u2019s not about one side or the other, not about the grievances of the\u00a0<em>Leadership Conference for Women Religious<\/em>\u00a0or the worries of the Vatican, but it\u2019s all about Jesus and His Church.<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Exactly, failing to act to correct somebody is not love &#8211; the willing of the good for another.
