There must be a reason<br \/>\nwhy God has decided that after 450 years it was time for him to be<br \/>\nrecognized as a saint. There wasn&#8217;t any political reasons involved<br \/>\nlike in the case of <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.newadvent.org\/cathen\/14689c.htm\">St. Thomas<br \/>\nMore<\/a>. During Juan Diego&#8217;s time the practice of human sacrifice<br \/>\nwas the norm in some of the native cultures, but within a short<br \/>\nperiod of time after the miraculous picture of Our Lady of<br \/>\nGuadalupe the inhabitants were converted and this human sacrifice<br \/>\nended. Now we have the modern day equivalent of sacrificing<br \/>\nchildren in abortion. In both cases this was done for the reasons<br \/>\nof some supposed greater good for the indivual or society. The<br \/>\nIndian symbolism of the picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe shows her<br \/>\nas being pregnant with Jesus and this picture has already been<br \/>\nclosely connected with the pro-life movement.
