Matthew 1:18-23
Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When
\nhis mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was
\nfound to be with child of the Holy Spirit; and her husband Joseph, being a just
\nman and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as
\nhe considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream,
\nsaying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary your wife, for that
\nwhich is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; she will bear a son, and you
\nshall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All
\nthis took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, a
\nvirgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel”
\n(which means, God with us).<\/p>\n
Holy Mother of God,
hear the prayers of the Church
for all
\nmothers,
especially those wearied by life
and overcome by the
\nsuffering
they bear for their children.
Hail Mary…<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
intercede for them
from your place in
\nheaven,
that the mercy of your divine Son
might lighten their
\nburden
and give them strength.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
