{"id":8713,"date":"2002-09-24T18:51:27","date_gmt":"2002-09-24T23:51:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/2002\/09\/24\/fundamental-mistakes\/"},"modified":"2002-09-24T18:51:27","modified_gmt":"2002-09-24T23:51:27","slug":"fundamental-mistakes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2002\/09\/fundamental-mistakes\/","title":{"rendered":"Fundamental Mistakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.markshea.blogspot.com\/\">Mark Shea <\/a>blogged\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<font color=#3333ff>One weird phenomenon I&#8217;ve noticed on Catholic boards&#8230;<br \/>\nis the strange compulsion so many ex-Catholics (especially Fundamentalists) have<br \/>\nto linger around the Catholic Church saying &#8220;I&#8217;m so glad I&#8217;m not Catholic<br \/>\nanymore<\/font>.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>This indeed is interesting since there are many things that the Church has in<br \/>\ncommon with individual Protestant denominations and there is not a equal vigor<br \/>\nto attack them. For example infant baptism is done by some Anglicans, Lutherans,<br \/>\nMethodists, and Orthodox churches; Orthodox and High-Church Anglicans have<br \/>\nIconography and statues of saints. Almost every Catholic practice is practiced<br \/>\nin one form or another in Protestant and Orthodox churches. The only exception<br \/>\nof course is the papacy and I don&#8217;t understand how this could bring about such<br \/>\nanger. I couldn&#8217;t find a anti-Orthodox site that met the same hatred as the<br \/>\nmultiple anti-Catholic sites available. In fact the only anti-Orthodox hatred I<br \/>\nfound was for Orthodox Jews, just more of the same idiotic anti-Semitism. It is<br \/>\na great sadness that these people were so ineptly catechized that they now hate<br \/>\nsomething that truly exists only in their imaginations. Why do Chick Tracks<br \/>\npresent Alberto Rivera as an ex-priest when they know he was <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/ic.net\/~erasmus\/RAZ343.HTM\">never a priest<\/a>? Why do these groups<br \/>\npublish sensational stories that any amount of investigation would prove false?<br \/>\nNo answer here, I don&#8217;t understand the motivation.
