Gray Davis was banned<br \/>\nfrom playing Santa Clause on Thursday at a Sacramento Catholic home for troubled<br \/>\nchildren because he supports abortion rights.Despite a 20-year tradition of<br \/>\nCalifornia governors delivering Christmas gifts to the St. Patrick&#8217;s Home for<br \/>\nChildren, the school&#8217;s director barred Davis from school grounds unless he would<br \/>\nask forgiveness for and disavow his views on abortion.<br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=#3333ff>Monsignor Edward J. Cavanaugh, director of the home since<br \/>\n1952, asked the governor to sign a letter declaring that he repents &#8220;of ever<br \/>\nhaving promoted the killing of innocent unborn children.&#8221;<br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=#3333ff><br \/>&#8220;We don&#8217;t let any pro-abortion people in our grounds<br \/>\nhere,&#8221; Cavanaugh said. &#8220;He should get his life together and he should change his<br \/>\nwhole philosophy on the unborn. He should stand up for the sanctity of human<br \/>\nlife.&#8221;<br \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=#3333ff>Davis refused to sign the letter, and instead invited<br \/>\nchildren from the home to the state Capitol to fetch their gifts. &#8220;He&#8217;s entitled<br \/>\nto his point of view and I&#8217;m entitled to mine.
