Discussing one&#8217;s own sexual orientation, preferences or activities with minors or vulnerable adults is prohibited. Discussing celibacy in the context of the priestly or religious life is, however, appropriate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"post\">You can see how effective the homosexual lobby has been when we now adopt their language such as sexual orientation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">3. Appropriate affection between Diocesan personnel and minors is often important for a child&#8217;s development and is a positive part of Church life and ministry. The following forms of affection are regarded as appropriate examples for most Church sponsored and affiliated programs:<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">&sect; Normal Hugs.<br \/>\n&sect; Side, or shoulder to shoulder hugs.<br \/>\n&sect; Pats on the shoulder or back.<br \/>\n&sect; Handshakes.<br \/>\n&sect; &#8220;High-fives&#8221; and hand slapping.<br \/>\n&sect; Verbal praise.<br \/>\n&sect; Touching hands, faces, shoulders and arms of minors.<br \/>\n&sect; Holding hands while walking with small children.<br \/>\n&sect; Sitting beside small children.<br \/>\n&sect; Kneeling or bending down for hugs with small children.<br \/>\n&sect; Holding hands during prayer.<br \/>\n&sect; Pats on the head when culturally appropriate. (For example, this gesture should typically be avoided in some Asian or Muslim communities.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">4. The following are examples of contact that are <\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">not to be used in Church sponsored and affiliated programs:<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">&sect; Inappropriate or lengthy hugs or embraces.<br \/>\n&sect; Kisses on the mouth.<br \/>\n&sect; Holding minors, above the approximate age of 5, on one&#8217;s lap. Note: The holding of minors in one&#8217;s lap should only be done in the context of consoling an obviously distressed child. <br \/>\n&sect; Touching buttocks, genital areas, or girl&#8217;s chests.<br \/>\n&sect; Showing physical displays of affection in isolated areas of the premises such as bedrooms, closets, staff only areas, or other private rooms.<br \/>\n&sect; Sleeping in bed with a minor.<br \/>\n&sect; Touching knees or legs of minors, as a show of affection.<br \/>\n&sect; Wrestling with minors, except for legitimate sports coaching, in which case another adult should be present.<br \/>\n&sect; Tickling minors.<br \/>\n&sect; Piggyback rides.<br \/>\n&sect; Any type of massage given by minor to adult.<br \/>\n&sect; Any type of massage given by adult to minor.<br \/>\n&sect; Any display of unwanted affection.<br \/>\n&sect; Compliments that relate to sexual attractiveness or sexual development. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The diocese of Portland (Maine) has published a code of ethics Some parts of it struck me, especially how sad that these items must be spelled out. 8.
