Women who believe abortion should be outlawed or severely restricted are in the majority, according to a two-year survey by a pro-choice group.<\/p>\n
The study found that 34 percent of women thought abortion should be limited to extreme cases, such as rape, incest or life-threatening complications, and another 17 percent would make abortion illegal altogether. Only 30 percent of the women surveyed agreed abortion should be generally available.<\/p>\n
In addition, the survey found that protecting abortion has dropped in priority. When asked to choose priorities from among a list of 12 key issues, only 41 percent of women in the survey ranked abortion rights as a priority. It came in next to last on the list, ahead of increasing the number of girls in organized sports.<\/p>\n
Remarkably, the survey was conducted by the Center for the Advancement of Women, whose president is the former head of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. And the findings of pollster George Gallup Jr. largely confirm its results.<\/p>\n
This survey demonstrates what, to me, is of little surprise — that after 30 years of a court-concocted “right” to destroy human life in utero, public unease with abortion only continues to grow.
