Transfer agreements are signed statements between an abortion clinic and a hospital capable of providing emergency services &#8220;within 30 minutes notice,&#8221; McGarvey said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">If a woman develops complications during an abortion at Brigham&#8217;s clinic, McGarvey said, &#8220;there are ample number of hospitals within 30 miles that would, by law, have to provide emergency treatment. It&#8217;s just like someone walking in with a gunshot wound. &#8230; You can&#8217;t turn them away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">&#8220;The close proximity of hospitals to the clinic was a factor in providing the exemption,&#8221; McGarvey said.<br \/>[<a href=\"http:\/\/goerie.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20030905\/FRONTPAGE\/109050360\">Full Story<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p class=\"post\">It is interesting that those who spout the mantra &#8220;Safe abortions&#8221; admit that they need hospitals within a reasonable distance to treat those who develop complications during abortion procedures.
