Sandra DePriest has become the first Mississippi Episcopal to step down to protest the ordination of the church&#8217;s first openly gay bishop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">DePriest told The Commercial Dispatch newspaper in Columbus that she could no longer actively serve as a priest until the gay bishop issue is resolved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">DePriest finished up with the Church of the Good Shepherd in Columbus and St. Johns Episcopal Church in Aberdeen on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"articles\">DePriest told the newspaper she was not resigning her vows for the time being, but could no longer actively serve as a priest until the gay bishop issue was resolved.<br \/>[<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunherald.com\/mld\/sunherald\/news\/state\/7591200.htm\">Full Story<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p class=\"post\">Sandra DePriest? That&#8217;s pretty funny.  Actually I find it pretty ironic for an Episcopalian priestess to  be upset about the Bible and tradition being ignored.
