{"id":5042,"date":"2006-02-22T09:49:20","date_gmt":"2006-02-22T14:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/2006\/02\/22\/15-new-cardinals-from-11-countries\/"},"modified":"2006-02-22T09:49:20","modified_gmt":"2006-02-22T14:49:20","slug":"15-new-cardinals-from-11-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2006\/02\/15-new-cardinals-from-11-countries\/","title":{"rendered":"15 new Cardinals from 11 countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"blog\">It seems like we have been hearing rumors of a consistory almost since the Pope was elected, but today he <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/news\/world\/2006-02-22-pope-cardinals_x.htm?POE=NEWISVA\">named 15 new cardinals<\/a> and as some as predicted he wants to keep the number of cardinals under 80 to 120. No real big surprises here with Archbishop Levada and John Paul&#8217;s longtime private secretary, Krakow Archbishop Stanislaw Dziwisz getting the red hat. The only one I was a little surprised at was Archbishop Sean O&#8217;Malley, not because of the Archbishop himself but because it would mean that Boston would have two Cardinals. At the last consistory when the Archbishop was passed over even though this was a cardinal see this was the reason many speculated that he didn&#8217;t receive the red hat at that time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"blog\">The Pope and the Vatican must have been fairly closed lip on the consistory since even though rumors of it happening today were reported some Vaticanistas gave it little credence. In this case the Catholic Outsider was really on the outside with this post yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/blog\/?cat=1\">My bet: No consistory tomorrow<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"blog\">One interesting fact is that the see of ironic cardinals has been moved.
