Dwight was nice enough to write me saying that I had inspired him to start in the world of blogging. The nice thing about blogchildren is that they don’t have the stigma of other children outside of marriage nor do they hit me up for an allowance.

Dwight’s blog is called Standing on my head and of course quotes Chesterton’s "Any scene…can be more clearly and freshly seen if it seen upside down." If you have read his excellent book Adventures in Orthodoxy you will have known his fondness for this outlook. I started my own blog with Chesterton’s line "If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly," and I have seen it used as a tag line on other blogs since. I certainly think Chesterton would approve of blogs, especially since his wife Francis’ maiden name was bloggs.

"I am in favour of one man one house, one man one field; nay I have even advanced the paradox of one man one wife. But I am almost tempted to add the more ideal fancy of one man one magazine … to say that every citizen ought to have a weekly paper of this sort to splash about in … this kind of scrap book to keep him quiet.

Currently Dwight has only one intro post up. I would seriously recommend bookmarking his blog or subscribing to his Atom feed, because based on his books I can predict all sorts of bloggy goodness. So be sure to turn your monitors upside down to read what Dwight writes standing on his head.

Seminarian and writer Dwight Longenecker has now stepped into the blogosphere.
