{"id":3120,"date":"2008-02-15T13:37:46","date_gmt":"2008-02-15T18:37:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/2008\/02\/15\/belmont-abbey-college\/"},"modified":"2008-02-15T13:37:46","modified_gmt":"2008-02-15T18:37:46","slug":"belmont-abbey-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2008\/02\/belmont-abbey-college\/","title":{"rendered":"Belmont Abbey College"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article\">Manassas, VA &#8211; Belmont Abbey College in<br \/>\nNorth Carolina has amended the health insurance plan provided by its<br \/>\ncarrier to remove coverage for abortions, voluntary sterilizations and<br \/>\ncontraception.&nbsp; The provisions allowing these practices were<br \/>\nrecently discovered. and the college moved quickly to rectify the<br \/>\nsituation.&nbsp; The college has since been faced with complaints<br \/>\nfrom a few employees to state and federal agencies, but remains<br \/>\nundaunted.<\/p>\n<p>President William Thierfelder said, As a Roman Catholic institution,<br \/>\nBelmont Abbey College is not able to and will not offer nor subsidize<br \/>\nmedical services that contradict the clear teaching of the Catholic<br \/>\nChurch.&nbsp; There was no other course of action possible if we<br \/>\nwere to operate in fidelity to our mission and to our identity as a<br \/>\nCatholic college.<\/p>\n<p>According to Cardinal Newman Society (CNS) president Patrick J.
