{"id":11963,"date":"2012-01-04T18:02:37","date_gmt":"2012-01-04T23:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/?p=11963"},"modified":"2012-01-04T18:03:25","modified_gmt":"2012-01-04T23:03:25","slug":"the-mystery-of-sin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.splendoroftruth.com\/curtjester\/2012\/01\/the-mystery-of-sin\/","title":{"rendered":"The Mystery of Sin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reading the news about\u00a0LA Auxiliary Bishop\u00a0Gabino Zavala who resigned and admitted fathering two children now teenagers I reflect on my own feelings.<\/p>\n<p>Seeing that \u00a0he was\u00a0a President of Pax Christi, presided over wacky liturgies in the dreadful L.A. Religious Conference, and had previously attacked Catholic bloggers it is sad the filter that I tried to apply to him. \u00a0I wanted to put him in a nice little box with the label &#8220;progressive Bishop&#8221; and \u00a0say &#8220;I&#8217;m not surprised.&#8221; So much easier to dispose of people that way.<\/p>\n<p>Further reflection causes me to think of the mystery of sin. \u00a0Original sin affects all of us and that goes whether someone sides on the so-called progressive side or see themselves as being faithful to the Church. \u00a0There certainly have been those who have evangelized the faith with the truth of the faith who have fallen and lived double-lives like Fr. Corapi.<\/p>\n<p>Certainly it is much more scandalous when a bishop succombs because the seeming level of hypocrisy \u00a0is much higher. \u00a0They &#8220;should have known better&#8221; we say as we live our own flawed lives not fulling living up to the Gospel we profess.
