Frightened

Some have described the Bishops entry into the abortion debate as being "too little, too late." The recent insert by the USCCB on trying to stop abortion from derailing the health care bill was mandated for all parishes, but not used by many is the latest effort of the USCCB in this regards.

While it is true that for decades the bishops as a whole were silent or extremely ineffective in this debate we must remember it is never too late to do what is right. I certainly welcome the latest efforts even if I don't want any form of Federal government supported health care. Speaking out about the Federal abortion coverage is being effective which is why the Presidents Press Secretary (himself a Catholic) has taken swipes at the Bishops.

Now Murder Incorporated (a.k.a. Planned Parenthood) CEO's Cecile Richard is being "frightened" by the Bishop's actions. Yes, plunging forceps into children is not scary, speaking against it is.

Not only was it in our bulletin, but our pastor read the most important part of it, condemning the abortion coverage and lack of conscience rights protection.

He's also prayed at daily Mass (during intentions) that health care reform be in line with Catholic teachings on the sancitity of life, excluding abortion coverage and protection conscience rights. AND he went out to Planned Parenthood with us during 40 Days for Life. (This last in spite of the fact that he is pastor of two churches and is also responsible for the souls of the Catholic students at the local college.

I love our new pastor. And we pray for him daily. I'm sure Satan hates him.

It is too little and too late. It's astonishing that such educated men should've been so snookered until the 11th hour.

I was reading about Athanasius and his battle with pro-Arian bishops last night and I felt a little bit better about our somewhat wishy-washy present-day bishops. It has been going on for centuries, so praise God for holy, faithful Bishops!

Too little, too late? No - better late than never. It all depends upon how firmly they hold the line, and what actions they take from here on out.

If they keep up the verbal pressure and it causes the bill to derail, or forces real protections against funding abortion, etc., then they did their job (and need to keep on doing it). So not too little or too late.

If the verbal pressure doesn't accomplish what we hope, then I doubt any earlier action would have either. At that point, the Bps need to back up the verbal pressure with some real concrete consequences, especially for those Catholic pols who vote in favor of a bill that violates the Bps' demands.

Too few of our bishops have been in the forefront of the pro-llife movement. I recall one who frequently joined pro-life pray-ers in front of an abortion milll who was criticized by some Catholics because he was also a strong advocate of immigration reform.
He was an auxiliary bishop then, he is now ordinary of an important diocese where he continues to speak out for the unborn, the immigrant, the poor. He is still young. I pray he gose far.

Indeed, too little too late. All I see from the USCCB is confusion, disobedience to Rome and the Magesterium, doubt, heresy, schism, and subversion.

It's not too late. Come home to Rome, boys.

St. John Chrysostom, "The floor of hell is paved with the skulls of bishops."

They should have spoken out (the Four Non-negotiables) against our abortion extremist commissar-in-chief, too.

With it's childish, whiney tone, immature emotionalism, disresectful name-calling, grade-3 grammar, and the repulsive objective, the only people sending PP's form-letter will be ill-informed girls that are too young to vote.

♥♥♥ "Hey goverrmint person, if you do this I promise I'll vote for you when I grow up; and I'll get all my friends to vote for you too. You know they're like all the 'cool' girls (LOL). Thanks mister, recess is over so I have to go back to class now.(L8R) ;-) " ♥♥♥
