I think that's what they call the new springtime.

I feel like I've been hit by a truck. Have they gone insane?

Somewhere along the way, they have become a secular institution. They need to discard all Catholic references, and be honest about what they are.

I hope this information is false. Should you find out anything else, please post it.

This is too confusing. I know that Cardinal O is pro-life. Yet he responds to questions about Caritas in vague, abstract terms. All I could think was that he was trying to appear (for the sake of Catholic health care) to conform to certain requirements. But wouldn't that cause scandal, even if Caritas ends up NOT referring for abortion, etc? My brain is broken. And who is it in the Bioethics group who apparently keeps reassuring Cardinal O that he is on stable ground, and conforming to Catholic teaching in this dilemna?

They're all very, very pro-life!

They're for peace and justice!!

They're opposed to the death penalty, water-boarding, immigration restriction laws, private property, tax cuts for the rich, George W. Bush, etc., etc.!!!

A woman's right to choose? No!!!! That's a matter of conscience. Who are they to impose their morals on anyone else?

This is heart breaking. We are going to have to start asking, what is the tipping point at which we can no longer call ourselves Catholic.

Alternatively, we must concede that all Saints were chumps and a half, for being sticklers to the point in many cases of martyrdom, on such trivial things as divorce, (Moore), the divinity of Christ (early Christians), and the authentic reality of other people not being less than actually human, (Edith Stein, Kobe).

It is so damn hard not to want to become bitter, especially when it seems like there are so few places that nurture what we hold dear.

Tell me, will those same places feel equally at home with embryonic stem cell research at their facilities, mercy killings?

It seems that the secular world would have us deny all our faith in all fields of endeavor. Teachers must pretend they do not value what they value when it comes to sex-ed. Doctors must deny life. Adoption agencies must ignore their own creed about the nature of humanity, male and female, and marriage. We can think what we want, we just can't say it, act on it, live it, or post it publically. Right. Feel free yet?

Yesterday the news reported that Cardinal O'Malley is seeking to renegotiate the agreement to insure that nothing against Catholic morality will be done. They said he issued a new statement but I couldn't find it online. It's not too clear what's going on, but Cardinal O'Malley would not knowingly go against Church teaching.

Why does the Cardinal need to renegotiate the contract? Did he not pay attention when negotiating in the first place. Strange days.

I thought the same thing, Jeff..or really, something my grandma used to say: You lie down with dogs, you're gonna get fleas.

This issue has been bubbling beneath the surface in Boston for almost 2 months now. I can't think of anything charitable to say about the leadership of the Archdiocese of Boston.

Better late than never - Caritas pulls out of agreement with Centene over abortion issue. Cardinal Sean holds true.

The Curt Jester

A former atheist who after spending forty years in the wilderness finds himself with both astonishment and joy a member of the Catholic Church. This blog presents my hopefully humorous and sometimes serious take on things religious, political, and whatever else crosses my mind.

My conversion story

Email Me:

Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J.

Known as "God's Jester" was a martyr for the faith and a man of wisdom, fun, tricks, poetry, song, and dance. Thus seemed an appropriate Patron Saint of this blog.
