I had a good laugh when I saw that Karen Hall had written "Nancy Pelosi's bishop threatening her with a "conversation.""

Though maybe she isn't aware of some translations of Matthew 18:15 that say.

"If your brother sins against you, go and invite him to a conversation, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen then take it to the next level a dialogue. If he refuses to listen then perhaps a listening session is in order."

Interesting that we will hear that Gospel reading this weekend (although in that translation Jesus will instruct us to "go and tell him his fault between you and him alone" as opposed to having a "conversation"). Jesus also says in that reading, "If he refuses to listen even to the church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector."

Either way, hopefully Ms. Pelosi will be in attendance to hear the Gospel. I pray that she comes to understand that Jesus Christ is truly present in the Word Solemnly Proclaimed as well as in the Blessed Sacrament. Perhaps if she receives more of the former and less of the latter for a time, her heart will be transformed.

These wise words of Archbishop Chaput also come to mind:

"What is a "proportionate" reason when it comes to the abortion issue? It's the kind of reason we will be able to explain, with a clean heart, to the victims of abortion when we meet them face to face in the next life--which we most certainly will. If we're confident that these victims will accept our motives as something more than an alibi, then we can proceed."

It sure will be a powerful scene when Ms. Pelosi is at the pearly gates, with her soundbites from St. Augustine and the reams of letters promulgated by US Bishops in hand, trying to explain herself to those who never had the chance to experience any of the things her children and grandchildren did, because they were a 'choice' not a 'life'.

But Pelosi doesn't think she's done anything wrong, so any visit from a priest or bishop even for a "conversation" would most likely be rebuffed.

I liked what Karen said at the end: can she pick the response she likes best? Ha!

You missed the part that was edited out of Matthew's gospel.

"And if your brother still does not listen to you, allow him to leave in peace, but have a bunch of Papal Swiss Guards right outside the door to beat the living snot out of him."

I agree with Mary Rose. I have been reading just about everything I can find on this subject. No offense intended but even a blind man can see that Ms. Nancy just doesnt get the fact that her actions are the articulation of what she belives. It is the fruit from her tree. As for having a one -on- one -- the hardest thing is to get the other party involved. Isnt the reason for surprise in an intervention is to get a person off guard and confront ? If Ms. Nancy has not made any changes from all of those who had made an effort to save her soul, and she is still unwilling to listen, well, lets treat her like a Gentile (with prayers and hope that she will be open to the Holy Spirit and his work through her). After all, to those who much is given, much is expected in return.

It is utterly SHOCKING that nobody even asks, why the USCCB did NOT enforce the MOST clear steps of Canon 915 YEARS AGO.

If enforced, or be demanded to take responsability for it, we would NOT have the high profile Biden-Pelosi "Popes" in Church doctrine.

Neither dozens of morally bankrupt, "Catholic congressmen personally opposed, but...".

Neither Catholics United, Catholics in Alliance and the like, would be crowing "nonpartisan endorsments" as:

"Catholics United executive director Chris Korzen issued the following statement today in response to Catholic senator Joe Biden’s addition to the Democratic presidential ticket.

Catholics United believes Senator Biden’s selection as vice presidential candidate is a positive development for Americans who respect leaders who have strong religious, family, and personal values. Senator Biden’s well-known commitment to his Catholic faith has inspired..."

VOMITIVE proabortion lawmakers like him are an UTTER shame to the USCCB. And, we can't be lukewarm to them not being PUBLICLY exposed, as leaders of an antiCatholic-divisive SCANDAL.

Cordially

Now we can all be praying earnestly that God will move Nancy Pelosi's heart when she meets with the Archbishop. A fast wouldn't be out of place, either.
