Endorsement

This has been a bad election year with unsatisfactory candidates. We have one candidate who supports abortion, infanticide in some cases, ESCR, cloning, euthanasia, and homosexual marriage. And the other candidate supports ESCR. So while I vote for the greatest good I was pretty happy to find that I now have another choice in this election and I totally endorse them. I will let this video make the case for me.

This is a ticket I could believe in.

What kind of cabinet would they appoint if elected? Here are a few guesses:

Secretary of State - Pope St. Leo the Great
Secretary of Treasury - St. Vincent de Porres
Secretary of Defense - St. Michael the Archangel
Attorney General - St. Thomas More
Secretary of the Interior - St. Theresa of Avila
Secretary of Agriculture - St. Francis of Assisi
Secretary of Commerce - St. Jude
Secretary of Labor - St. Francis de Sales
Secretary of Health and Human Services - St. Luke
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development - St. Benedict
Secretary of Transportation - St. Joseph Cupertino
Secretary of Energy - St. Paul of Tarsus
Secretary of Education - St. Albert the Great
Secretary of Veterans Affairs - St. Ignatius of Loyola
Secretary of Homeland Security - St. Peter

That video was worth it just to get the last couple of frames. Nicely done.

And uh, I have a few shirts and buttons that I presciently created for the Communion of Saints ticket:

And my favorite:

p.s. I think Augustine and Catherine of Siena make a more complimentary ticket, myself. There's a woman who knew how to speak truth to power!

The AA team with the dream team!!!
Add Chief of Staff - Moses

I'd love to vote for the ticket, BUT:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Art I, Sect. 2, US Constitution

They're certainly over thirty-five but, definitely not US citizens, natural born or otherwise.

"We have one candidate who supports abortion, infanticide in some cases, ESCR, cloning, euthanasia, and homosexual marriage. And the other candidate supports ESCR."

I think the choice is a even a bit harder than that considering candidate #2 not only supports ESCR but also aggressive military policies and the abandonment of the poor to the vicitudes of the free market- both positions contrary to the clear teaching of the church and at odds with a true respect for the dignity and sanctity of each human life.

This is not an easy election year for Catholics (not that any ever are).

They're certainly over thirty-five but, definitely not US citizens, natural born or otherwise.

OK

They have been residents of this country for a long time. Wherever the Eucharist is, are not all the saints there praising Him?

Excellent video, thanks for making it!
DT, I have to say I disagree with you, it's a very easy choice to make. Obama is for all the 5 non-negotiables, and McCain only 1. Obama even voted against giving medical care to babies who survive abortion, and he voted for comprehensive sex education in Illinois public schools for k-12.

Finally, free to vote for truth. Thanks,Jeff. Can you edit those things, though? 'our' restless?

DT, I respectfully disagree with your characterizations of what constitutes clear social teaching of Mother Church. Furthermore, the hyperbole used (i.e., "abandonment of the poor by the vicitudes [sic] of the free market") isn't helpful in thoughtful dialogue. Free markets do not, in and of themselves, abandon the poor. Individual people who are greedy indeed do. Likewise there is a difference between advocating for a strong military (a necessity) and militarism.
The fact remains that Obama fully supports intrinsic evils that are non-negotiable issues. McCain does not to the same degree.
Admittedly difficult (as I will no doubt be holding my nose as I pull the lever this November), the choice between the two candidates is clear.

I think he would make heavenly choices for Supreme Court justices as well, should a vacancy arise.

Couldn't help but think Augustine was holding an order of McDonald's fries in his "campaign shot." That could just be me though... I'm on on a low carb diet.

yeah, but you know the media...Augustine would be portrayed as a confused bandwagon jumper with a 'past' and Aquinas would be portrayed as a glutton with 'issues'. Of course the Obamamessiah would be portrayed as smarter than them both together anyway...wait...he already is...my bad :-)

With your most kindly permission, I'd like to report on the VP debate between Aquinas, Palin, and Biden. My blog, the TNS News Service, is a satirical blog, creating stories that have to deal with matters of the faith, (especially on the Benedictine College Campus in Atchison, Ks.) and politics, and this would be a great story, since I have been studying Thomist Philosophy and think that Aquinas would own both of the other candidates.
