Doctors for Moloch

The culture of death continues to make me sick.

Dr. Andre Lalonde, executive vice-president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC), told the Globe and Mail yesterday, "Palin's decision to keep her baby, knowing he would be born with the condition, may inadvertently influence other women who may lack the necessary emotional and financial support to do the same."

"The worry is that this will have an implication for abortion issues in Canada," he said.

Under the facade of "freedom to choose", Lalonde said that "popular messages" about women like Palin, who chose not to kill their children "could have detrimental effects on women and their families."

"We offer the woman the choice. We try to be as unbiased as possible," Lalonde said. "We're coming down to a moral decision and we all know moral decisions are personal decisions."

Though Lalonde said that "the country's medical professionals don't emphasize the burden of Down syndrome to pregnant women," and that "giving women balanced information about the potential consequences of either decision does not mean they are being encouraged to abort their pregnancies", statistics reveal that 80-90% of Canadian children with Down syndrome are aborted.

And here I though that less children with Down syndrome being loved instead of being killed was a good thing. The statistic on parents who abort their children with Down syndrome is such a scandal and the 80 to 90 percent rate seems to be true for most countries. This modern eugenics will only get worse as more and more defects can be diagnosed earlier or perhaps a future as seen in Gattaca. I pray the Gov. Palin's example will serve as an example for all face with this diagnosis.

Wow...just plain wow...

"...We try to be as unbiased as possible."

Yeah, it really shows too. Or not.

"We're coming down to a moral decision and we all know moral decisions are personal decisions."

Umm... Did I miss something. Aren't moral decisions, by definition, based on an objective rather than personal standard.

Gov. Palin might inadvertantly influence not only mothers expecting Down Syndrome children, but also affect the lives of families eagerly waiting to adopt these children.

Someone tell me where the madness stops, please...

And they show that their position is based on fear.

How dare Ms. Palin choose to let her baby live? That doesn't pay the bills at Planned Parenthood! She must have missed a Wimmyn's Memo.

So it isn't about "choice" at all. It's about eugenics and alternate lifestyles (as seen on Desperate Sex in the City, etc.).

Umm... Did I miss something. Aren't moral decisions, by definition, based on an objective rather than personal standard.

They're changing the definition of what "moral" means.

They are for choice as long as you choose to kill your child. Any other choice is an invalid one that you shouldn't make.

When thinking about that 80-90% abortion rate, consider this as well. There is a HUGE rate of false positives for the test for Downs Syndrome. Some of those babies certainly did not even have the condition. My sister was told her baby would be DS and he wasn't. She knows because she chose to have him anyway.

This makes me want to cry. But if there is a good side to this article, as least it sounds as though the “culture of death” is feeling threatened.

Oh, this puts me in a twist. This is an obstetrician!

www.ready-aye-ready.blogspot.com I blogged about it, too.

I betcha even with all those stories of parents successfully raised their kids with Down's Syndrome, these doctors will not be moved one bit. As Abraham said in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus, if they didn't listen to the prohpets, they won't listen to someone from the dead.

You may be right, Ray, but that won't keep us parents of children with Down syndrome from telling the world what a blessing they are to our families. It's a call from God.
That was the reason I got into blogging two years ago, and I sense that our movement is gaining momentum, thanks to Trig Palin, not even six months old.
"And a little child shall lead them. . ."

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke
