I knew television commercials havr gotten really bad, which is why I pretty much record everything so I can skip through commercials. Last night I caught a bit of some Clint Eastwood movie on AMC only to be treated to a commercial for Trojan's Vibrating Touch a masturbation aid for women. It was so bad it made me long for erectile dysfunction commercials instead.

...and your a grown man. Imagine what's like watching garbage like that in front of our teenage son or my elderly parents! To play it safe, we usually watch EWTN. It used to be Fox news but they are about the worse offenders of those commercials.

Thanks for reminding me why the tube is permanently off in our home.

Yuck. Haven't seen this one (thank God) but I have seen the Levi Jeans ad where these people just met and are running up the stairs of an apartment which isn't theirs and are practically peeling off their clothes. All the while they are telling each other that the minimal self info they have exchanged is false just before they fall on the floor and begin their casual sex.

This is supposed to make me want to buy Levi jeans? "Boy, if I wear these jeans, then I can invite random strangers to have sex with me in the apartment I've gained illegal entry too! yipee!"

I was up late last night watching Red October on AMC and saw the commercial you're talking about and a few other similar ones.

You get an idea of who marketers think is up and watching tv at that time of night.

Yup, saw it in the middle of Hang Em High during lunch break last week

Bout made me lose my lunch.

Here from Subvet's....I'm his War Department.

OH, by the way....I love your alliteration...and where can I get that greek word verification?? It's awesome!!

It's odd, whenever I am cooking supper, there are several commercials concerning constipation, hemorrhoids, and diarrhea medications

My husband saw the ad some weeks ago and thought perhaps he had stumbled into some disturbing parody commercial. But no...

And these days there seem to be no 'safe' television channels. We can't even watch Food Network without being assaulted with contraceptive and ED commercials.

I have only 'regular' TV, so I'm subjected to those stupid ED commercials all the time....can't use the mute button because my remote doesn't work.

Wish I had EWTN...

A link is on the way.

It's very difficult to watch ESPN with my 12 year old son anymore. Dish Network seems to have sold major ad blocks to Viagra and KY Jelly, though at least "Smilin' Bob" and his brand of male enhancement have finally gone away after 2-3 years of endless rotation. The "Viva Viagra" ads are horrible, only surpassed by the male and female "his and hers" KY cream commercials. While it sounds like I may know these commercials a little too well please know that at most I watch an hour a day. Too busy to do otherwise. But it saddens me that our favorite program to watch together, Baseball Tonight on ESPN, is sandwiched between many of these types of ads anymore. Ugh.

Oh that commercial is just disturbing. I just saw it on AMC while watching Star Trek Nemesis. I only get EWTN when cablevison deems us worthy enough. It gives the 24/7 listings for it, but only shows it during 2pm-10pm if we are lucky.

I miss Smilin Bob. Compared to what we have now he was sedate.

Goodness. The only solution is not to watch at all! It's because we watch stuff like this (even one hour a day -- evil is that efficient!) that we get desensitized to how much garbage and objectification we take in by the minute, on tv, magazine covers, and everywhere we go.

Funny that you should mention this, Jeff. My SIL told me over the weekend that a KY jelly ad came on during the ABC family movie. I didn't realize how bad it's gotten; I sometimes go weeks without turning on the TV.

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke
