Ok I will admit that I am sweating the new iPhone 3G. It comes out today and even though I have the cash to get it, it would mean spending more cash to cancel my T-Mobile contract. I want it. Badly. And that’s exactly why I am going to wait to bu... Read More

I was in a daily mass one time and saw a woman using her Blackberry during the Liturgy of the Word. I was getting mad and about to do something when I noticed she was wearing a mantilla, not normal attire for a Crackberry-addled businesswoman. As I watched, I finally figured out she was following along with the Readings with her Blackberry instead of the missalette. Sure enough, as soon as the Gospel was finished she put it in her pocket and never glanced at it again.

I still don't know what to think of that.

I wrote an iPhone rosary as well .... I use it too. It has colored buttons for each of the prayers and my kids love to press the red button (our father), green button (glory be) and the purple button (Hail Holy Queen) ...

You can use it in Firefox and Safari. It fails in IE but I wrote it for the iPhone and it works well for that.

Ggoose, did you know that you can submit apps like that to the new iPhone app store? You don't have to charge for it, and I think it's free to submit free apps. (I'd have to double-check on that to be sure.) apple.com/iphone has information (under SDK) on how to submit apps for the new app store available for iPhone on Friday morning.

If I had an iPhone (and I don't have much AT&T service where I am, or I would be getting one!), I'd love a Rosary app!

Christine,

These aren't really iPhone apps, but iPhone formatted web pages. Real apps are downloaded and run directly on the iPhone/iPod Touch

Ah, okay, then. :) I was hoping.

Of course, I can't really use the iPhone where I am. Not enough service coverage for me, which stinks. I work with Apple doing call center sales, and I'd LOVE an iPhone. I'll have to settle for the iPod Touch until they get more towers up around here, maybe even throw in some 3G service.

Ben: Are you sure it was a Blackberry? It could have been me on my smartphone!

www.universalis.com has the Liturgy of the Hours and daily mass readings in mobile format. I sometimes use it during the readings at mass because I prefer the Jerusalem Bible translations at times.

Um... okay, I decided to read the thing after commenting. Playing Dungeons and Dragons is a sin?!
I guess I'm a horrible sinner for going to Anime Expo too, even though the three Catholics in the group all made it to mass... Oh, and I read all the Harry Potter books too! *gasp*

This is actually pretty cool. As for using gadgets during adoration, I've been looked at strange because I put prayer intentions on my iPod and listen to them in the presence of Jesus.

Sweet, though for a man who sins on an order of magnitude that I do, it's easier to just to go trough the Top 10.

The Curt Jester

A former atheist who after spending forty years in the wilderness finds himself with both astonishment and joy a member of the Catholic Church. This blog presents my hopefully humorous and sometimes serious take on things religious, political, and whatever else crosses my mind.

My conversion story

Email Me:

Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J.

Known as "God's Jester" was a martyr for the faith and a man of wisdom, fun, tricks, poetry, song, and dance. Thus seemed an appropriate Patron Saint of this blog.
