Here's the dumbest/funniest headline I've ever read: Sparkling Hooker Wins VD Crown.
I found the headline on the sports page of an old newspaper called The Oneida Daily Dispatch. Sparkling Hooker was the name of a horse, while the VD crown was a reference to a horse race at Vernon Downs Raceway.
how about...biting the consecrated hand...on new advent today? This is just intimidation.IT IS THIS MIND SET that allowed the desecration to enter the temple...with liturgical abuse, church theft,rape and many other abuses...shining a light on evil does not put one in danger of hell as this author writes.His use of this tactic is not the way of JESUS who does not use intimidation.

I don't think it is that dumb of a headline. It's a head from a secular newspaper from the edge of the bible belt. Granted, the story ran in the Faith and Values section of the newspaper, but not everyone knows what World Youth Day is. I'm sure you can find plenty of Catholics who don't know what it is. A better head would have been "Area Catholics to attend World Youth Day."
I'm forced to agree that it's really not that dumb of a headline. Like the person before me I can't expect even the vast majority of people to know what "World Youth Day" is. I'd grant it to you if World Youth Day's title had the word "Catholic" in it, but as it stands it's really not that obvious.
Considering the usual level of accuracy and understanding demonstrated by the press when reporting on Catholic matters, this headline is at least refreshingly free from error.
I agree with Fuinseoig. At least the headline doesn't bash - incorrectly, as usual - Catholics.
