The definition of pandering

Sharp-eyed Thomas Peters reports on Hillary Clinton on the day of the PA primary wearing a Madonna bracelet. Though I thought a Madonna bracelet now meant wearing a Red String Kabbalah Bracelet like pop star Madonna.

I do find it highly ironic considering the images on the bracelet like Our Lady of Guadalupe and Blessed Mother Teresa. Considering the saintly dressing down the Clintons got at the National Prayer Breakfast in regards to abortion it is rather strange. I remember Hillary at Mother Teresa's funeral with her looking like she was extremely bored and like she would rather be anywhere else. Our Lady of Guadalupe has become a pro-life icon and is so prevalent in anti-abortion protests that seeing on such an abortion advocate is rather a stark contrast.

But I guess if you are Hillary Clinton you change the way you talk when speaking among a mostly black audience and where you suspect there are a lot of Catholics you wear a Madonna bracelet.

I agree totally about Hillary. She will really do anything to get elected. It is really sad to watch, but I pray the folks who vote are smart enough to see through all of it! God bless! Padre Steve

When I worked at the Pentagon a few years ago I used to attend Mass at the auditorium almost every day. There was this awesome dominican priest, Fr. Robert Riley, who died a couple of years ago, who gave the greatest homilies. One day he told about Mother Teresa when she spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast about the evils of abortion and offered to raise every child in danger of being aborted. Fr. Reiley talked about how unconfortable the Clintons and the Gores had been shifting their butts on their chairs and then he uttered one of my favorite homily lines thus far: "this 'shrimp' of a woman told the most powerful man in the world that he was wrong!" I believe that he was talking about fortitude in that sermon.

Hillary had better be careful. Discovering a southern/black/Jewish heritage right before you speak to a predominantly southern/black/Jewish group is tacky, but flirting with devotionals? Some grace might rub off on here.

I can hope and pray, can't I?

I don't think Hillary is that stupid to pander with a Catholic devotional. I think she's serious about it. Remember Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain / England? He's Catholic now.

Yes, Blair's a Catholic, but a "Catholic-With-Benefits".

Ha ha. Nice joke about the pop star Madonna.

The chances of Hillary Clinton actually becoming a Catholic are slim. That would get in the way of her plans for this country. She will go along with whatever is popular until she wins this election (or, hopefully, loses) I'm surprised, though. I know several non-Catholics who would never be caught anywhere near anything representing Our Lady. Maybe she's wearing garlic or something underneath it to protect herself from us evil Catholics...

There's some irony for you, although if she's journeying to becoming apart of the Church and pulically recants her pro-murder points of view, i have sympathy, but well, the chances of that are 1 in a million. We already have enough wanna be Catholics

I've read of conversions that originated with the casual donning of devotional "jewelry". Trouble is, I can't remember if the accounts were fictional or not! There's always hope. A complete reversal on "reproductive" rights would be a good sign! Let us pray.

That bracelet is very popular among the Hispanic women with whom I have worked.
And it could happen that she would have a conversion of heart - look at St Paul, St Augustine, etc. One can only pray.

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke
