It looks as though Papa is trying to sell the sword to the Arab. His left hand holds on to the sword until the right hand gets the cash!

My thoughts exactly. Where do you put a thing like that? A sword and a camel statue? Perplexing as the West may be, I don't think the Arabs have the art of gift-giving down.
I keep thinking of the verse: I bring not peace but a sword.
No doubt Pope Benedict will end up storing this next to the American Walking Stick.
Do you think that any of those protest signs were going through Il Papa's head when he saw that sword? "Behead those who insult Islam", you know, those protest signs?
Actually I liked the walking stick with the ten commandments on it that Bush gave to the Pope. It was made by a formerly homeless man in Texas who is making them and selling them to earn an honest living. I thought it was a far more appropriate gift than most of the costly items that have been presented to the Pope including that sword.
Does anyone else think the Saudi King looks like Col. Sanders?
Hehe, this is the same king who greeted Queen Elizabeth to the tune of Darth Vader's Imperial March. (Thanks to those British Horseguards, lol!) What other gift would you expect the Emperor to give? It's practically the Pope's own lightsaber. :)

The Saudi king does not need weaponry to kill off infidels. The formerly Christian west has been very proficient at killing themselves and the next generation, no help required, thank you. :-(
