Number and intesity

I posted on this before and it looks like good news.

The Archdiocese of St. Paul/Minneapolis has banned an 82-year-old “cradle Catholic” and his daughter from speaking at a Catholic parish.

Robert and Carol Curoe, co-authors of the recently released book Are There Closets in Heaven? A Catholic Father and Lesbian Daughter Share Their Story, were to speak Monday at St. Frances Cabrini Church in an event organized by the Catholic Pastoral Committee on Sexual Minorities (CPCSM) and Catholic Rainbow Parents.

Yet according to Michael Bayly, executive coordinator of CPCSM, the church was informed that due to “the number and intensity” of calls and e-mails received by the Archdiocese opposing the event, it could not be held on church property.

All you need to know about this group is obvious from a cursory glance at their webpage: http://www.cpcsm.org/catholicrainbowparents.htm.

Sad that parents would not just turn a blind eye to the sins of their children, but actively endorse and encourage those sins. See Matthew 18:6.

But what does the "number and intensity" of the calls have to do with proclaiming the truth? Shouldn't the bishops defend the faith even if it wasn't the popular thing to do?

The very fact that the parish has a "Pastoral Committee on Sexual Minorities" is a really bad sign.

Who published this book?

But what does the "number and intensity" of the calls have to do with proclaiming the truth? Shouldn't the bishops defend the faith even if it wasn't the popular thing to do?

I think we should give the bishop here the benefit of the doubt. He did the right thing and how he became informed of the controversy is speculation, Bayly's given reason not withstanding. Many bishops unfotunately are surrounded by a cabal of laypeople that keep the bishop less than well-informed and it may take a flurry of calls and contacts to cut through the middle-men. I know I've been told by a lay administrator not to bother the priest with my issues because he's too busy and she will pass along the info.

Hurrah for the Bishop!

This is very simple. The church since its founding by Jesus Christ does not permit sexual relationships to occur outside of marriage. That is marriage as defined by God, one man and one woman. If you don't like it you can make yourself God and start your own religion as Paul so effectively warns us in 2nd Timothy 4:3 "A time will come when people will not listen to accurate teachings. Instead, they will follow their own desires and surround themselves with teachers who tell them what they want to hear."

The Curt Jester

A former atheist who after spending forty years in the wilderness finds himself with both astonishment and joy a member of the Catholic Church. This blog presents my hopefully humorous and sometimes serious take on things religious, political, and whatever else crosses my mind.

Known as "God's Jester" was a martyr for the faith and a man of wisdom, fun, tricks, poetry, song, and dance. Thus seemed an appropriate Patron Saint of this blog.
