Mummy Dearest
Just when you think Chris Gillibrand can't top the photo's he finds of Masses in European churches he makes another find.
Now I know that the Church through Peter has the power to bind and loose, but this is ridiculous. At the end of Mass the priest announces "That's a wrap."
My suspicion is that the liturgist (because one had to be involved ) who came up with this already had their brain pulled out through their nose with hooks. Now that might sound rather uncharitable, but I happen to think that is the charitable position.
Other pictures include the mummies unwrapping themselves. You just can't find modest mummies no more.

As often, pictures like these make me wonder what the intention was. Perhaps "Now I know that the Church through Peter has the power to bind and loose, but this is ridiculous." was IT? Now if they could just move this stuff to the right setting, like rel. ed class or whatever, they could end with "That's a wrap." :)
Are they mummies? Or rolls of toilet paper? Perhaps they are there because the Mass was a mess.
Is it too generous to think that they were trying to be wrapped in swaddling clothes?
Unbelievable. Is it Halloween yet? And this is in Austria where the Holy Father is going to visit soon. The third picture of the glowing green alter and red/orange-y/pink carpet look like they stole set-pieces from the movie The Wiz.
Perhaps it has something to do with Lazarus?
Or his Mummy.
So during the homily, I am sure the priest begins with some "your mummy" jokes. Yo' mummy's so old that her bandages are made of natural fibers. Yo' mummy stinks so bad that when the archaeologists found her, they said, "who had beans today?"
Great puns throughout this, Jeff. I guess we have to laugh so we don't weep.
Can you imagine what would happen if one of those mummies got too close to a candle? Yowza!
Perhaps those candles are artificial. That's one situation where I can definitely say that that would be a good thing.
