Ugh, spam.

Wow, Planned Parenthood and the Catholic Church have finally agreed on something. In PP's defense, I doubt they'll suffle the offenders around to new parishes.

Actually, it's not that shocking. Medical professionals and caregivers tend to dislike any reporting requirements, particularly those that involve notifying the police because they tend to discourage people from seeking needed care.

And given that society, with conservative support, routinely tries 13-16 year-old as adults because they know better, it is illogical for conservatives to now claim that 13-16 are unable to make adult decisions like whether or not to report a crime. Either 13 yos can make adult decisions or they cannot.

Anyway, they need to expand the scope of this bill to force priests to report confessions of crime. It is high time religious leaders stop hiding the criminal acts of their flock.

Nope, they don't shuffle 'em around to other clinics. Incompetent and corrupt abortionists are allowed to stay right where they are.

Hoodlum,

I'm glad that you keep coming back to read this and other Catholic Blogs...I will pray for your conversion and hope that you will open up to the spirit of truth....

Your Brother In Christ...

Kevin

Sometimes, trolling is an unconscious plea for prayer.

Wow, Planned Parenthood and the Catholic Church have finally agreed on something. In PP's defense, I doubt they'll suffle the offenders around to new parishes.

Nop, they'll just openly keep them there instead of having the decency to be ashamed of it.

Actually, it's not that shocking. Medical professionals and caregivers tend to dislike any reporting requirements,

That's odd. Most the physicians I know are often frustrated by them, wishing that they could do something which might cure the abuse they confront, rather than just band-aid it.

You might want to seek new caregivers.

particularly those that involve notifying the police because they tend to discourage people from seeking needed care.

Especially when it cuts into PP's profits...

And given that society, with conservative support, routinely tries 13-16 year-old as adults

Like the 15 year old girls who burned a kitten to death and are tried as juveniles?

because they know better, it is illogical for conservatives to now claim that 13-16 are unable to make adult decisions like whether or not to report a crime.

Evidently someone has never dealt with the hoops one has to jump through to charge a 13 year old as an adult.

But do go on. Watching someone speak from the idealistic authority of abject ignorance is MOST entertaining.

Either 13 yos

A "Yo?" Like a Broken yo-yo? It only "Yos?"

Year Olds. You're not sending text messages or getting charged by the byte here.

can make adult decisions or they cannot.

Now you're talking! I'm sure you'll be jumping for joy when your 13 year old (Neice/Sister/Daughter's) 30 year old boyfriend picks her up for some cocktails and some hot monkey love!

Anyway, they need to expand the scope of this bill to force priests to report confessions of crime. It is high time religious leaders stop hiding the criminal acts of their flock.

Why let that whole pesky "Seperation of Church and State" thing get in the way of a good pogram?

And you lefties claim you aren't good fascists! Get on with your bad selves! Look at you!

"That's odd. Most the physicians I know are often frustrated by them, wishing that they could do something which might cure the abuse they confront, rather than just band-aid it.

I know from my time in the military that the standing rule is that you do not admit any the lease bit questionable to the military doctors and shrinks. Why? because military shrinks and docs are not bound by the rules of confidentially like normal doctors. That means anything you say to them will eventually make it to your commander, particularly if you have issues with them.

Paramedics will tell you people routinely lie about their drug usage to them because they fear getting ratted out. This can and will have lethal results.

"Like the 15 year old girls who burned a kitten to death and are tried as juveniles?"

Notice I said 'routinely' not all the time. I routinely watch Law & Order, but sometimes I read a book.

"Evidently someone has never dealt with the hoops one has to jump through to charge a 13 year old as an adult.

But do go on. Watching someone speak from the idealistic authority of abject ignorance is MOST entertaining."

Actually I am familar with the process; a friend of mine was charged as an adult after he got addicted to smack and robbed several banks while playing hookie from school. Besides,I never said it was easy or simple to charge children as adults, I said it was routine.

"But do go on. Watching someone speak from the idealistic authority of abject ignorance is MOST entertaining."

That maybe true, but at least I can read what others post. :)

"Year Olds. You're not sending text messages or getting charged by the byte here."

I concede, this was wrong.

"Why let that whole pesky "Seperation of Church and State" thing get in the way of a good pogram?

The church and state seperation is not at issue. The state is not interfering with the practice of religion, but this proposal will prevent people from using religion to hide their crimes.

Of course lefties make bad fascists, we have a good record of holding the line against it. It was leftists who held the line against Franco when he overthrew the democratically elected government. The left held the line against the Pius XII and blessed Stepinac tolerated attempt at genocide against the Serbs, Roma, and Jews. Unlike the Catholic Church, the left at least makes an effort to support freedom and democracy.

Thanks for the link.
I will repeat my comments here: Regarding the first cartoon, The action figure is appropriately ( as drawn by PP) dressed like a devil and calls herself DIE- anisis, then she fills a trash bucket with some type of killing fluid and puts the "offending" person who told her he was just "telling the truth" into it- a little similar to a saline abortion procedure.

Yeah, that good Franco, and Stalin, and Pol Pot, and the NKVD, KGB, Red China, Castro, Hugo...

Yeah, real humanitarians and lovers of freedom you all are.

And your slanders and canards about Pius XII have been long debunked by not the least of which are the Jews themselves!

What a hoot.

Hoodlum,

The Philippines, as a country, has experienced first hand what it is to suffer the consequence of a broken seal of confession.

In the late 19th Century, when an underground rebellion movement to overthrow the local Spanish government (but not the Church) was well underway, a woman supporter confessed her participation, and the Spanish priest promptly alerted the civil authorities. Thus the rebellion was forced to prematurely launch its offensive.

Making priests tale-bearers puts them on the same level as tawdry tabloid reporters and would forever destroy whatever confidence and respect the faithful would have for the clergy, sinful and fallible men they may be.

Good people, when debating with someone who hasa an a priori hate for organized religion, particularly Christianity, appeals to the contrary will fall on deaf ears (or blind eyes in the case of blogging). Hoodlum lives in all or nothing world in which what he thinks he is right and anyone who disagrees is wrong or ignorant. OK. He no more open to honest discussion or reason (which would presuppose one could mistaken on an issue) than a Klansman is interested in supporting affirmative action. AS several have posted, we do better to pray for him. Being a full of disdain as he is, it must be a sad place to be.

I know, but letting blatant untruths pass by is dangerous; any lie repeated frequently enough soon becomes accepted as gospel.

So, if a devout Christian attempts to overthrow a democratically elected leader, it's a bad thing. Got it.

Unfortunately I can't seem to post links. So ignore the previous comment.

Pete, some of the allegations against Pius XII have been refuted by people like Rabbi Dalin, whose scholarship is as slapdash as Goldhagen's Other allegations have not been debunked.

Ray,

I wouldn't make priests into tale bearers. I would merely make them as accountable to the justice system as you and I. The Roman Catholic church would still be free to force priest to maintain non-disclosure agreements.

But you bring a up a good point about Catholic priests and their unfortunate love of dictatorial regimes.

See I live in Baltimore, we have a name for the behavior priest engage in- "Don't Snitch". Our surging murder rate is proof of its effectiveness.

FR BP, I don't hate all organized religion just the ones that engage in bad behavior and have self righteous followers.

Yes R, Franco's decision to overthrow the democratically elected government as well as the toleration and endorsement of said act by Pius XI and XII are morally wrong.

So you take an example of a priest acting contrary to the expectations of the Church and consider it a stick to beat the Church with. Very intellectually honest. And we're supposed to believe you don't have a chip on the shoulder?

(By the way, Hoodlum, by responding to a post (mine) lacking context, it makes you look silly.)

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke

The Curt Jester

A former atheist who after spending forty years in the wilderness finds himself with both astonishment and joy a member of the Catholic Church. This blog presents my hopefully humorous and sometimes serious take on things religious, political, and whatever else crosses my mind.

Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J.

Known as "God's Jester" was a martyr for the faith and a man of wisdom, fun, tricks, poetry, song, and dance. Thus seemed an appropriate Patron Saint of this blog.
