I wish they were debating something elseFirst there was the Nighline debate which featured atheists one one side and included Kirk Cameron on the other.
Now Christopher Hitchens debates Rev. Al Sharpton.
Now if Hitchens and Sharpton were debating which is the greatest jerk it would be one thing, but these debate slates are not exactly the cream of the crop of apologetics.

wow, Kirk Cameron. His credentials are acting in bad movies based on a series of bad theology books? That is like selecting the back-up utility infielder as the All-Star DH.
In an article from Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network had the following to say about Cameron and Comfort:
"Cameron and Comfort have a great influence on apologetics worldwide."
I don't know that I'd go *that* far, but here's why they say that:
"Together they created the award-winning reality TV program, "The Way of the Master", airing in more than 100 nations. Through street witnessing, they demonstrate effective ways to share the gospel with non-believers of every kind."
At least someone is publicly standing up to "The Blasphemy Challenge." I hope they don't look entirely un-knowledgeable.

Gee, a secular news show stacking the deck in favor of its own agendas; who could have forseen that coming.
Concerning Cameron. it's one thing to witness to unbelievers among the great unwashed but quite another to go up against people philosophically and scientifically invested in criticizing faith.
Remember Larry King's show on the lost tomb of Jesus? Among the defenders of that load of crap were a biblical scholar and an archaeologist. And the opposition? The president of the Catholic League and the president of a Baptist College.
Sharpton verses Hitchens: is it too much to ask that the intellectual playing field be level?
