Baby Boy Dies When Doctors Do Erroneous Abortion After Bad Test

Rome, Italy (LifeNews.com) -- The baby boy who became the victim of an abortion after doctors failed a disability test on him died over the weekend. Physicians advised his mother to have an abortion after they had misdiagnosed a physical deformity but the boy survived the procedure.

Doctors at the teaching hospital Careggi performed two ultrasounds on the boy and his mother and they said he had a defective esophagus. That's a disorder that surgery could have corrected after birth in some cases.

However, when they went to abort the baby boy, they discovered he was healthy and desperately tried to resuscitate him.

The boy was born health and lived for six days following the failed abortion, which was done at 22 weeks into the pregnancy.

Misdiagnosis led to undernecessary medical procedure and tragedy all the time. But hey, lets single out the abortionists in an effort to impose the Catholic churches Romanian communistic beliefs on the country.

And why not?

Yeah hoodlum preach it! You are so smart! But how could you say this was a tragedy? Either way the abortionist's procedure was successful, since the baby died right? I mean, it wasn't like he tried to fix the baby's defective esophagus and ACCIDENTALLY killed it. That would have been a REAL tragedy don't you think?

We ignorant religious folk could sure use some more of your mastery of logic and critical thinking. Thank you for enlightening us silly communists.

May he rest in peace.

"But hey, lets single out the abortionists in an effort to impose the Catholic churches Romanian communistic beliefs on the country."

Must...resist...temptation...to mock spelling and grammar.

Freakin' Romanians. Worst thing to happen to Europe since the French.

My spelling and grammar disabilities aside, the fact remains that the Catholic Church and the Romanian communist government's view on birth control, adoption, and women, not to mention the Jews, are basically identical.

Romania under Ceausescu forbid abortion and birth control, and encouraged adoption of the unwanted spawn those prohibitions brought about.

The Catholic Church forbids abortion and birth control, and encourages adoption, as a policy prescription for the unwanted spawn those prohibitions would generate.

In both Romania and the Catholic Church, women are tasked with a "special", but in reality, inferior position in society.

In Romania, the Jews were attacked and slandered, while in Europe during the Catholic Church dominated Middle Ages, Catholic Church attacks/slanders against the Jews have made anti-Semitism a permanent feature in Christian civilization.

+JMJ+

Gee, Hood, we're all glad you were "wanted spawn".

And . . . must be Iran is full of Catholics?? All that anti-Semitism, you know.

Also, what would we poor women do without you all-knowing social liberal types raising our consciousness?

The bottom line is: a lovely little baby died for NO reason other than the fact that some semi-educated people (like *ahem* cough, cough) think they know better than God.

Hoodlum, if a fetus was simply "unwanted spawn" then the Catholic Church wouldn't bat an eye at this bit of news, or at abortion in general. The difference is that we believe that a fetus is a living human being with a soul created by an all-powerful, all-merciful God who thought very strongly that this child should be created, and we have no right to argue with Him. Whether you agree with that position or not, there actually is logic to why we oppose the abortion industry.

Hoodlum, why are you talking about unwanted salmon? My wife is from Idaho. All spawn are wanted there...

Seriously, though, how is your view different from some dead Communist dictator? You both promote a personal gospel of selfishness. Ceausescu promulgated such policies to bolster the birth rate of certain ethnic groups he believed to be superior to others. I seem to remember that he had no problem with abortion (both pre-natal and the retroactive kind, if you know what I mean) when it came to gypsies and other undesirable groups. You seem to promote a policy that would decide whether a person lives or die on some personal criteria that you have formulated in your head. Both of you believe that your opinion is better than someone elses based purely on some arbitrary and capricious standard. The only difference between you and Ceausescu is a matter of scale and ability. He had an army for a time to back up his opinion, you don't.

And as far as anti-semitism goes, such practices in medieval times were more cultural than theological. If you have ever read the horrible things that Jewish commentators had to say about Jesus in the Talmud and other writings you would know that bigotry went both ways. It's base human nature to "trash talk." The real question is whether we are able to rise above it.

The bottom line is this~if you actually understood why the Catholic Church is opposed to abortion instead of your preconceived anti-Catholic bigoted notions, you would understand how false and how defamatory your analogy is.

Like St. Paul, I hope you have an epiphany and the scales are removed from your eyes.

Hoodlum, you can feast at the table of the Lord its not too late and the banquet is awesome. Unfortunately, truth is an arbitrary commodity today unless you seek it, and it can be found in the repository of the faith that exists in the living body of Christ, the one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, the Church that wrote the Bible. Seek always the culture of life. Hold loosely to things that are not eternal...the alternatives are deceptive and despicable.

The boy is safe. But his parents will feel it for the rest of their lives, Heaven help them.

This is so sad. Six days of pain and then death, not just because of misdiagnosis, but because the parent chose not to request a post-birth operation.

I love the Jesus, the Catholic Church, the Pope, and Mary the Mother of God......and everyone who persecutes Jesus in any way...

Pushing down the temptation to say "serves them right," I ask mercy on those poor parents. The grief they are experiencing right now is unthinkable to most people. Lord, have mercy.

Call me stupid (which I'm sure you will since I am a woman against abortion and contraception), but where exactly does the Church condone communism? Are we taking about the same communism that several Popes have spoken out against? Capitalism and Tyranny have several "aspects" in common; that does not make them one in the same thought. Could you also point me to the Church teaching that upholds anti-semitism? Since when do those in dissent against Church teaching represent the teachings of the Church? To say the Church is anti-Jew because of the evil actions of some Christians is like saying the Church promotes homosexuality because Cardinal Mahoney does. Pretty weak argument.

I love the Church, and the way she upholds women is incomparable with any other religion or philosophy. The Church acknowledges that contraception is demeaning to women, turning them into objects for the pleasure of others. I don't have the time to go into every way in which the Church upholds the beauty of women. Read Humanae Vitae, read JPII's 'letter to women', read the Theology of the Body. The "anti-woman" argument against the Church is poppycock. As a former pro-abortion feminist, who sought the truth and was lead to the Catholic Church, believe me, I have read what the Church teaches about women. No institution has ever made me feel so beautiful.

God bless you hoodlum. I have entrusted you to St. Monica. She'll take care of you.

Hoodie, look up logical errors. Print them up. Tape them next to the computer. Read them before you post anything.

Spelling, I can ignore, so long as I get the idea, but... Well, you may as well try to say that a suicide bomber is the same as *you* are because you both believe you need air to live. That sound irrational? Good. Maybe you do have some sense in there.

"In both Romania and the Catholic Church, women are tasked with a "special", but in reality, inferior position in society."

I am female. Exactly how is my position inferior according to church teaching?

Thank you for your answer.

I believe in the death penalty for all involved.

"I believe in the death penalty for all involved."

Yay! more killing. Killing for everyone. Woohoo!

It's been a while since I've taken math but as far as I remember. If you take one sin and and add one more you get two. 1+1=2 Two is more than one. So we just end up with more sin. Or have I messed up with this equation. Like I said it's been a while since my last math class.

Lizbette, most people are born, bogus rationalization aside, because someone was too dumb or drunk to properly use birth control. Then comes those born to parents who properly used BC, but fell within that fail rate. Finally, there is that small percentage whose parents, for some reason, wanted them.

Amy, you're stupid because if you read what I posted, you'd know I said that the Catholic Church and the Communist Romanian government had the same attitudes toward abortion and several other topics.

As for the teachings that promote anti-semitism, look at John Chrysostem's screed
“where Christ-killers gather, the cross is ridiculed, God blasphemed, the father unacknowledged, the son insulted, the grace of the Spirit rejected"

Chrysostem then goes on to hit upon the problem that has plagued Christian leaders from Christianity's founding- that is, the Jews are, in the OT, your god's chosen people. Yet, they reject Jesus as the Messiah, which means A) Jesus was fake or B) the Jews have become immoral, thus losing God's favor. As noted by Daniel Goldhagen, Christian leaders, unwilling to believe the former, propagated the latter with all their might, thus laying the foundation for the toleration of the persecution of the Jews that lasted to this day.

This view was endorsed by Pope honorius III, who said of the Jews, "the perfidy of the Jews, condemned as they are to perpetual slavery because of the cry by which they wickedly called down the blood of Christ upon themselves and their children"

Not to mention, the Papal States ghettoized the Jews into special neighborhoods.

And let us not forget Pope Pius XII, who met with Ante Pavelic not once but twice, after the latter had begun horrific atrocities against the Jews, but loaned him his summer home to hide from Yugoslav justice :)

The A/B option that Hoodlum sets up is incorrect. It was never an issue of the Jews being immoral. Those Jews who did not accept the Messiah did not enter into the New Covenant. The New Covenant fulfilled the old but did not do away with it. The Catholic Church has always been grateful to her Jewish ancestors who were chosen to prepare the world for knowledge of the One True God and Jesus. Whoever you quote, you don't quote the teaching magesterium of the church, Hoodlum. That is what Catholics are obliged to follow.
The remarkable sins of the Catholic Church's members don't shock us. None of us entered the church perfect first. None of us are perfect yet. The church is a long story of tempering evil over time and moving slowly toward perfection not instant, wild success. Kind of like it is in every individual life.
But her teaching is true, and applies to all because it reflects the truth about the dignity, value, and purpose of life.

In the tone and reading between the lines, Hoodlum reminds me of exactly why I abhor, as a woman, the contraceptive, abortive mentality. It leads to such ugliness. Doesn't his lack of love make you shudder, ladies?

Unwanted babies bring joy, healing, peace, and love. IF you let them.

Get out all your venom, Hoodlum. But as a woman loved by a man who is fully Catholic, controls his sexual appetite, expresses love in the full sense, including how the act is accomplished and expressed sexually, I am unmoved by your post. I AM LOVED, and an inconvenient baby would only be welcomed by my protector. The kind of world you appear to live in robs women of this over and over again. I see and hear it all the time. What a loss!

"Lizbette, most people are born, bogus rationalization aside, because someone was too dumb or drunk to properly use birth control. Then comes those born to parents who properly used BC, but fell within that fail rate. Finally, there is that small percentage whose parents, for some reason, wanted them."

Wow, do I ever take exception to that. For some reason, I want the child that my wife and I are expecting in May. Or maybe I was just too dumb to use birth control.

That's right, ladies and gents. All birth, genealogy, and history is due to man's inability to avoid knocking up his girl.

What a sad, dark world you must live in, Hoodlum.

Basic biology lesson: Most people are born because of the biological urge to copulate and with their parents having full knowledge of where babies come from. ;)

Hoodlum, judging from this and other comments you've made about unwanted children, I gather that your mother didn't want you and made sure that you knew it. For that I'm truly sorry, but that doesn't mean that every parent - or even the majority of parents - are like that. I work with some pretty messed up kids, but I've very rarely met one whose parents (or someone else) didn't love them and want them, even when they were inconvenient or aggravating. (And believe me, when I was younger, I thought the only legal abortions should be performed on 16-year-olds... and that's called "emancipation of a minor".)

Seriously folks, if you want to understand Hoodlum, read up on gnosticism. Hoodlum is a classical gnostic. But somewhere inside he knows that he is wrong which keeps leading back here.

16 years ago my daughter was born with a "defective esophagus." She had surgery the day after she was born and a second one a month later. Today her biggest problem is that mom and dad aren't going to buy her a car. In other words, she's a normal teenager. The only sign of her "defective esophagus" is a 2 inch surgical scar above her ribcage. That's it.

Even if the child could not have survived, he should have been given the chance to be born, and to be held by someone who loved him. Instead he was sentanced to death by his parents. Three lives were destroyed when they chose to kill that baby. At least he is now safe. I've been praying for the parents. I cannot even begin to imagine how they feel. I also can't begin to imagine how they can ever forgive themselves. May God have mercy on all who were involved.

Well,I realy think the doctors should have done surgery when the baby boy was born. Things like this is what makes me cry. My friend thoughti was crazy for cring ,but come on if that was my child I would have kiiled my self.I understand it was a mistake but, "why chose abortion as the first choice?"

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke
