Edward Tracts
Now that that news is out that Sen. Edwards did not fire his anti-Catholic blogging team as first reported, some have wondered why. Most speculate that the left wing nutroots wouldn't stand for it. Well I have an exclusive as to the real reason they didn't get fired. They tried to hire Jack Chick instead, but he is getting too old and just was not up to a presidential campaign. So he had to fall back to his original team.
I also have another exclusive. I have managed to get a hold of some of Sen Edwards new campaign literature and here is a sample of just some of it.
In other news speculation that the Edwards campaign has moved to the campus of Bob Jones University have not been confirmed.

We already know that the answer to that last question is a sounding no.
"Himeytown" "White Niggers" "Canibals" are the few that come to my mind and I am sure that there are others I am forgetting.
The best thing to do to these people is to either laugh at them (because they really are comical) or ignore them.
Getting all worked up into a lather is what they want from us.
I don't have video editing gear or skills, but here is my political ad idea if someone wants to work it up:
Black screen with Edwards' quote about the bloggers having no intention to denigrate any religion read by a grave-sounding narrator.
Cut to various hateful excerpts, videos, etc of the bloggers.
Cut back to black screen with words and narration to something like, "If this was unintentional, how different would it be if it was intended?"
Cut to obligatory sour picture of Edwards in black & white.
To state the obvious--John Edwards is being a full-fledged idiot. Believeable that he wouldn't vet a blogger, but unbelieveable he'd keep these women on.
Democrats do have Macaca moments, ask Gary Hart. Besdies, the attention given to this blogger scandal is on par with other scandals, like Ben Cardin's blogger's Oreo remark.
Anyway, Edwards recognized that people are entitled to their own opinions on their own time, and, provided it does not effect their performance, they should be left alone.
Seriously, are you clowns going to stalk and hound out of jobs everyone who opposes your agenda? To do That's pretty scary and somewhat evil. I would never think to attempt to hound someone from their job simply because of a difference of opinion, unless that opinion was dangerous, like say a pedophile working in a school. But then again, as an atheist, I have to live with my actions, I don't have the confession as a get out of jail free card when it comes to my bad behavior.
Plus, some of the things these bloggers said, like Ratzo's opposition, were true, only they removed the veener of morality your Catholic discourse has placed over their actions.

One problem with your non-analysis: none of us here are hounding Edwards to fire them. If he wants to run his ship like this, so be it. IC said he can't believe he would keep them, but that is not the same. Also, even if we were calling for their firing, it is not remotely evil because no one is talking about using force agaisnt Edwards, only persuasion.

Re Bob Jones U. -- especially relevant since the nutroots are waving it around as the "right"'s own in-house anti-Catholic problem: the place takes a hardline Paisleyite position, yet it does so within the canons of academic debate, rather than in the pottymouthed style of the bloggeuses Edwards is standing by. Also, BJU has hosted Catholic speakers, and maintains an impressive collection of Renaissance (and hence largely Catholic) art.
Additionally, and strictly fwiw, I have some "Bo-head" colleagues (that's what BJU alumni sometimes call themselves) here at the pan-Christian university I teach at, and they have always shown me, as a Catholic, the utmost respect. The BJU comparison is a red herring.
Of course he vetted them. Of course they have a right to their opinions and their statements. Of course Edwards is entitled to employ them.
And of course we're entitled to believe that these people are working together because they're in complete agreement.
What I do not believe is that, a. Edwards is offended by these anti-Christian remarks nor that b. these women didn't intend these remarks to be offensive, nor that c. they regret these remarks.
But Edwards shouldn't fire them. There's no point now. He's made the obvious statement, by his actions, that he agrees with them. To fire them now would only mean that he hasn't the courage of his convictions.
It's almost scary how well you channel the Jack Chick ethic...
Today, Edwards announced that he's hired the same guy that drew the Mohammed-with-turban-bomb cartoon to develop his website graphics.
When Edwards first appeared on the national scene prior to the 2004 Presidential election, I knew that I kept anti-bacterial soap on hand for more than when I clean up after my dogs. The guy literally secretes transfats.

But it's in no way what John Edwards or his party want. They want you people to forget this and let them off the hook.
I say "you people" because as a Canadian, they prob. don't care what I feel or say about it, except Amanda Marcotte who just enjoys riling people up in general.

The fact that even a relatively civil post "in enemy territory," so to speak, still produces the term "you clowns" indicates just how deep anti-Catholic hatred goes among liberals. And confession is not a "Get Out of Jail Free card" on any number of fronts, not the least of which being, from your perspective, that there is no Jail to Get Out of or Jailer to free you.
More to the substance, this isn't even accurate: "everyone who opposes your agenda" does not describe Marcotte. Everybody understands that Edwards would probably not get the St. Blogs Deal of Approval. That's one thing. But Marcotte is a psychotic, vulgar (in both senses), comtempt-filled hater of Catholicism who clearly goes beyond ... how did you put it ... having "a difference of opinion."

My parents used to tell me how especially in NY the politicians knew they had to really go out and appeal to the Catholic voters with strong moral values, today the Cardinals and Bishops stand for nothing, snuggle up to Imams, Rabbis and anyome for that matter, and dont have any moral agenda except filling the collection baskets
Today the true catholics vote is either with the Evangelical or a Traditional Catholic like Pat Buchanon and forget the so called Vatican II catholic of today who really stands for nothing

A Cafeteria Catholic does pick and choose which dictates of the faith he or she will believe. IS NP a CC? Yup. Does it appear some of the compromising bishops are CC's? Could be. Pointing that out does not make me a CC though. I am upholding what the Church authentically teaches. I am not condemning NP or the host of comp bishops...that belongs to the lovely 'figment of my imagination' (as you like to say)that is God.

Did anyone really expect this man to fire his bloggers? This is a politician with less than a stranglehold on reality. Kerry lost in 2004 largely because of his lack of appeal to many Catholic voters, and the dead weight that couldn't even help him win North Carolina kicks off his campaign by failing even to reprimand the anti-Catholic bigotry of his own workers? He's doing the work himself of destroying his chances before he prints his campaign signs. We can at least be thankful for that.

Can I make an observation here? I agree - folks like Hoodlum are secretly intrigued and attracted to the Catholic Church. She alone stands in the world in open opposition to contraception which is the plague that caused the sexual revolution and ushered in the culture of death. Even if the majority of Catholics do not fully embrace her teachings, the Church remains pure and undefiled. She speaks Truth and the Truth attracts.
Besides the behavior of these bloggers, the issue should be their character. Lack of character should certainly be a valid reason for any employer to replace his/her employees. They revealed their character by their public words. If I hired someone to wash floors and they mumbled any of that stuff under their breath, I'd fire them!
If Edwards isn't competent enough to maintain a staff with at least the appearance of integrity, he isn't qualified to be a leader.
I myself have been puting the fire to Houston's liberal bloggers who constantly deride and viciously attack the Church.

As a Liberal I have to tell you not all of us have a or any deep anti-catholic hatred going on. Some of us choose to believe in a strict and ddeep separation of church and state and wish others would adhere to this system- that way no one is potentially subjected to hatred- Freedom and Liberty.

I love it- if you are pro-choice, believe in a Womnan's right to choose, for freedom of Reproductive Rights then you are a Baby Killer. Is it even a Baby? And 99.8% of all abortions are performed LONG before you could even start debating if the Fetus is Person. I don't say you're a woman killer when you advocate for women or rape or incest abort the product of a violent act. Lets play above the belt.

The First form of bigotry in this country was Anti-Catholisism??? Really? No other forms of biogotry come to mind with this countries development. I offer example 1: Native Americans ex 2: African Slaves ex 3 and all of human histories example for bigotry WOMEN/FEMALE/FEMINITY... I don't recall the Catholics protesting the Salem Witch Trials. One isn't any better than the other.

Seriously am I reading this correctly, female only forms of contraception are the cause of the sexual revoluttion which leads to the death of our culture??? Is it 1843 or 2007? While the ability to for an individual to regulate their sexuality with the aid of contraceptions could not, has not, and can not lead to and/or cause the death of this culture. Why? Because it takes more than a condom or a oral pill to lead to moral decay on a societal level. Additionally I think enslaving ACTUAL humans is a much greater crime against nature. I believe the entirity of human histories sick relationship with wars, violence to get what one wants, and continuious submission of the others to advance self interest as all a little more morally represensible. Why don't we ever talk about the violence that goes on outside women's bodies, oh I know because everyone can tell woman what to do, she's not a morally capable of making such decisions. Please. When ALL Christians, bigots, misogynists, and general freedom haters get off their high horses and come live in the real world, then maybe would could start debating about the same thing.
